So the Leverage crew didn't have any kids visiting this weekend. They had managed - somehow - to get a note through the portal, folded into the most intricate paper airplane Eliot had ever seen, assuring them that Spike and Ada were both just fine, but were simply far too busy to visit this year. Oh Eliot. You were so cute when you thought you'd escaped unscathed. Because you know the only thing more exciting than surprise children...?

...Was surprise grandchildren. Specifically the three girls grinning at him across the counter right now. Two were identical twin teen girls with white hair, the third a little girl about half their age and all three wore their mother's delighted grin.

Hardison, who had been missing the kids fiercely this weekend, immediately started laughing.

And didn't stop until he had a stitch in his side and trouble catching his breath. Don't mind him, folks.

They had their mother's timing, too. Eliot had just been testing some homemade jam and promptly choked. This wasn't even a spit-take style choke, this was a full on, coughing fit, doubled over with his hands braced on the stove, the cook patting him on the back and reminding him to breath choke.

"Um," he managed. "H-hi girls."

At least he managed to get the heat turned off before the jam burned.
