The last few days...

       ...have been interesting.

As I had mentioned in the last posting, trixstir  and I went to Swift Current for her second pre-natal exam, and this time we were able to hear (sort of) the heartbeat.  It was difficult to get a proper result, because the baby kept moving around every time the doctor tried to listen.  I guess it's shy.  Those who read Trixstir's journal already know the results; I was trying to save it until Mom comes to visit next week, but apparently Trixstir already told her too, so...  The doctor has some concerns because the baby seems rather large; Trixstir is at 16 weeks, but the baby seems to be the size of a 20-week old.  Trixstir had an ultra-sound scheduled for late March, but the doctor pushed that up to tomorrow because she's concerned.  It's either a large baby, or it could be twins!  I've been joking with Trixstir about the results of breeding a Clydesdale Draft Horse to a Shetland Pony, and those who have seen us in person would probably understand the joke.  ;)

Personally, I'm hoping for twins!  The ultimate gift would be a healthy boy and girl, but we'll take what we get.  I'll be happy with either, so long as the baby is healthy.  :)  The doc also prescribed some medication to help Trixstir was the nausea that continues to plague her.  The good thing is, the pills seem to be helping; The downside is that they'd ungodly expensive!  30 little pills cost over $50!!  Canada may have free medical care, but most drugs (including these) are not covered by that plan; You either have your own separate insurance plan for the cost of pills, or you pay out-of-pocket.  Now, the Kidling's asthma inhalers are covered, as they fall more in the life-or-death scenario.  Morning Sickness may be unpleasant, but it's rarely fatal.  :/

I've been dropping off some resumes around town, as although the Iron Pony business has great potential, I'm not exactly swimming in work or ca$h at the moment, and there are bills to pay.  Yesterday I dropped off a resume at the Co-Op Agro Centre, and was fortunate that the "main boss" was in at the time, and he took my resume directly.  I was doing a little browsing a few minutes later when he approached and handed me one of their "official" application forms and asked me to just fill in the top parts (as the resume covered everything else.)  We chatted for a few minutes, and he said he'd get back to shortly.  He called this morning, and I've got a job interview next Wednesday morning!  :)  If I can get a full-time position with the Co-Op, that would be ideal; We'd have some guaranteed income, and we'd have benefits!  I guess this is how most entrepreneurs get started; You have a full-time (or at least part-time) job to pay the bills, and you work like a dog "part-time" to get your baby up and running.  I could really use a couple of clones, or a very large influx of cash!  :)

Late last night, a bunny got squooshed out on the highway in front of our place.  Rather than leaving it there to get squooshed even more, and because I knew the dog would eventually smell it and go after it, I brought the remains into the yard for him to eat there.  I didn't notice the smell at first, until I plopped it down on the ground for him; then it hit me!  Ugh...   The insides of a smooshed bunny don't smell very good, at least not to a human nose.  The dog sure loved it though!  He ate about half of it before I made him come inside, and he was pretty reluctant to leave his prize outdoors.

During the night, the inevitable happened; It wouldn't have been a problem except that the Kidling decided the dog was just being annoying, and decided to roll over and ignore him instead of getting up and letting him out.  The result?  Waking up to a puddle of pee on the floor, and a big pile of stink on the bed he was sleeping in!  The worst thing is, the little bugger did clean things up and take it out to the trash, but he didn't bother to tell anyone that the mess had been made on his sheets, and he just left them!  I went into his room to see about airing it out a little, and saw this horrible aftermath on his sheets!  It never occurred to him to wash the sheets, or at least let someone else know so that they could wash the sheets (he did have to get to school afterall!)  So yes, I ran them through the wash on the "sanitary" cycle which not only uses hot water, but uses the machine's built-in heater to make it even hotter!  The only reason I washed them, was because the smell was stinking up the entire house.

I really don't know what's wrong with that kid; Yesterday I thought the dog was farting in the house, but it turned out to be coming from the Kidling's bedroom because there were two big dog-turds in the waste-basket!  Apparently, the dog had sneaked in the frozen turds the night before, and rather than throwing them back outside, the kidling just dumped them in the waste-basket!  He never once thought that when they began to thaw out, they might start to stink.  I like to think that I'm a pretty good writer and/or story-teller, and that I've got a fairly large vocabulary, but that little incident left me completely at a loss for words.  It still does.  Compound that with this morning's adventure, and it's almost enough to make my head explode!  There are just no words to describe it.

Anyone want a slightly used kid?  Comes with an optional dog, but we'd be happy to keep the dog.  :/
