[He looks like he's been thinking about something confusing and maybe a little bit disheartening, but he's got his usual game face (all grins and energy and >:D) by the time the feed clicks on.]

I've got a question for... whoever feels like answerin', I guess! What did the sun mean to you, back on your world?

Exactly what I said! Was it important, or did ya just think of it as this big ball of light that came out during the daytime?

Uh... I guess a big ball of light that came out during the day that gave off warmth. One of my homes never had sunlight.

[...Homes? Plural, even?]

Never at all? How did anything live there?

[Maka takes a moment to scribble something down on a piece of paper before presenting this gruesome-looking thing to the screen.]

This is the sun in my world.

That ugly lookin' thing is your sun?!

Ahaha--he is pretty ugly looking, huh? But yup, that's the sun in our world. What he means is...umm...well, he gives us light and heat the same as any other sun, but he laughs a lot too.

The sun is an actual being where I'm from, too, so him laughin' a lot ain't all that weird to me! The ugly part, though... that definitely is.

I'm kinda afraid to ask, but, is he a god?

The sun? Well...it's the sphere in the sky that lights up our world during the day and warms the Earth. It's what sustains life on our planet.

[Nod nod, a pretty normal answer. She sounds like she's from one of those "alternate" Earths he keeps hearing about.]

Is that all anybody ever thought of it? Did people used to worship it or think of it as a deity?

I don't think our village specifically worshiped it, but I wouldn't be surprised if others around the world did a long time ago.

Okay, I think I get that... Does your world have any gods at all?

There are many on my word who simply believe that the sun is a ball of fire that travels across the sky in order to bring light and warmth to the planet.

[That gets a chuckle out of him.] "Many on your world," huh? Is that what you believe?

runsyoudown June 12 2011, 20:41:27 UTC
There is a god who drives a golden chariot across the sky, and this is what is known as the sun. That is my truth.

That's pretty interesting! Have ya met him?

The sun is the source of light and life, but it is also kept in balance with the moon and night.

Why do you ask, little one?

[Balance! Finally! This is the best response all day, hooves down.]

If you can believe it, it kinda has to do with my job.

Oh? [smiles.] And what job would that be?

Back home, I'm the Celestial Envoy for Amaterasu, goddess of the sun. It's my job to spread the word of her good deeds so that everyone will believe in her and give her the faith she needs to survive and make sure our world is safe.

Problem is, she's here now, too, so I can't really treat this world-hoppin' adventure as a vacation. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind at all since bein' her envoy is basically the greatest job ever, but... I dunno how to go about it here. I mean, would you worship a sun that isn't yours?

[Issun: opening up to celestial ponies everywhere. He's not even sure why he's telling her all this, himself. :|a]
