Watched the Oscars tonight, was less than impressed with the art direction of the show. Also, suck failure, 'Avatar' - you won exactly the awards you deserved, the technical ones. I was also a fan of Kathryn Bigelow winning over James Cameron all over the place. And finally, I was struck by the number of nominated films I'd not even heard of. ( Read more... )

1. I hate to be the single evil person who says it, but I don't think Heath Ledger deserved the Oscar. I have no problem with him getting it posthumously, I just think Philip Seymour Hoffman was a bazillion times better in Doubt.

'Tis time again. I've been watching red carpet stuff pretty much ever since the basketball game ended, and I've discovered that I apparently like the "boring," "safe" dresses - but seriously, Laura Linney looks fabulous.

And don't even get me started on how amazing Helen Mirren looks. (See also Julie Christie.)
