something something
Watched the Oscars tonight, was less than impressed with the art direction of the show. Also, suck failure, 'Avatar' - you won exactly the awards you deserved, the technical ones. I was also a fan of Kathryn Bigelow winning over James Cameron all over the place. And finally, I was struck by the number of nominated films I'd not even heard of. Five years ago, I would have seen them all; today, I'm barely aware of film at all. I feel sad, somehow.
In other news, I passed up the "opportunity" to go to the shore with my family. I got a bit of the guilt trip this morning when the parentals came to pick up my sister (who has been staying with me for a few days) and kept mentioning the suite they'd reserved for the two of us, but I pointed out several times that that was Not My Problem, as I'd never once indicated that I was going with them. When they suggested this "trip" in November, I said, "Yeah, have fun with that." When they were making the reservations, I said, "Thanks, but I'm not going." And yet they reserved some ridiculous room for me anyhow. Their poor planning is not, as they say, my emergency.
And yet I'm feeling guilty enough about not going that I'm posting here.

(But seriously - the beach, in North Carolina, in March. I fail to see how this is a desirable option for a resident of NC. Sure, if you're visiting from the frozen tundra, it's awesome; why on earth would I want to go? BOO. [I'm also still annoyed that our family vacation this year is to WHERE I LIVE.])
So yeah, that's my current life in a nutshell. Hooray spring break, boo having to do work during said break. When will I be out of school? [answer: one more year then I get to leave this shithole of a town]
