This evening Eli and I walked up to the West Seattle Nursery because it's that time of year when I look at the garden and find the bloomed-out state of most of the plants a wee bit dispiriting. A work-at-home afternoon means I spent most of the day reading galleys for a biography of Amos Burg (The Last Voyageur to be published Fall 2012) in the sunshine. Today I left work two hours early and I must say that's much better than staying late. I left early so I could get to UW Surplus on its public day (Tuesday) before closing time (6:00 pm) because I so wanted some of the lab glass that had been featured on the UW Surplus website. This evening was an ever-so-fine night out in the company of the Gerontaki. We saw Coriolanus at the Uptown SIFF Cinema (where they have real butter on their popcorn) and I've got to say it was the finest film I've seen in quite some time.
