Guide Centenary Launch Party

Sep 05, 2009 23:26

Today was the day for the Guide launch of the centenary, so lots of paties all around the country.

This is the flag I made so the girls could see where our tent was.

The party for my county had amoungst the many attractions;

Sheepdog demonstrations,

A cookaburra and an owl,

and falconry displays.

There were long queues of girls for the bouncy castles, climbing wall, etc, but the most popular thing for the leaders was the tea tent.

I also found out that I have got into the county's Centenary poetry book with my limerick,

There once was a man from Mafeking,
Who made up this game called Scouting.
The girls wanted a go,
But the man said “No.”
So he asked his sister to start Guiding.

For such a large event, everything went very smoothly. It's just a shame that the sun didn't shine, although we were all glad that it stayed dry.

I just caught this picture of a sun ray at the end of the event.
