I've been working on a project since last summer for one of my apprentice's little girls. (Indeed, in the icon, a great shot by albreda, I'm working on the coat.) Her birthday was in early March but, with one thing and another, I didn't get to give it to her until tonight.

I've been in the Society for something like 16 years now and while I have not been to War EVERY year, I certainly have made it most years. No matter the challenges or trials, I always look forward to War and always am renewed by the excitement of community and learning that imbue every moment of the Pennsic experience. It's been a busy few days...

Thursday night I spent the evening sewing with Thora. We created a truly eye-searing PINK! tunic for her, which is what she wanted, oddly enough. Friday, teffan  came to town and we hung out/worked on schoolwork/prepared for Boar's Head.

The week was full of ups and downs.

Major Down - the formulary for 2011 was rejected and I had to spend a good chunk of the week working on resolving a serioes of errors. Also, because this was the "next upload after the issuance of this memo" we had to also do an extra layer of editing/format change before submitting. So, one of the best benefits of friends who have produced daughters is the opportunity to make extra-cute items. It's not age-appropriate yet, but I could not resist making a little dolly for Miss M. I tried to document it, but while I can find references to little Norse children "playing house," I have not found a mention or example of a dolly.
