Finally, a big reveal...

I've been working on a project since last summer for one of my apprentice's little girls. (Indeed, in the icon, a great shot by albreda, I'm working on the coat.) Her birthday was in early March but, with one thing and another, I didn't get to give it to her until tonight.

The dolly with her accessories - a tiny ceramic bowl, a little pewter spoon, a handwoven handbasket, a handwoven backpack basket, and a handsewn linen sack to hold all the little pieces and spare bits. (I was realistic and made a spare belt, pouch, hat, and shoe right from the start.) Whipcorded linen strings on the bowl and spoon mean the dolly can "hold" those accessories. The dolly and all garments are handsewn. The digits (both fingers and toes) are quilted, not individually sewn.

The hat, yellow tunic, and white tunic are all linen and the tunics are embroidered in linen. The necklace is real amber, the "brooches" are buttons, and the treasure necklaces are glass beads on a linen cord. The apron dress is wool, embroidered with linen, and trimmed with a bit of cardwoven of trim. (The apron wool and trim are remnants from her parent's Coronation garb.) The pouch and shoes are leather, the belt has a real metal buckle and is made of a thin cardwoven strap. Her hair is wool yarn and the features are embroidered in linen.

Emmi got to choose the doll's hair and eye color, since I was conveniently babysitting while that part was being completed. She did immediately request a high chair, cup, and a blanket for the dolly, but we were able to supply that too, since I have plenty of wool around here, a set of cordial-sized goblets, and a Viking Bumbo chair I previously made for an A&S entry. :) Emmi seemed well pleased with her new bebe, so I think it was a success.
