A busy day today. Nancy came over and we made her a deck of handmade mantis cards. Looks like we are making Ukraine flag cards in this picture Wayne said. Blue and yellow are just 2 of the colors on the cards - there are 7 colors in all. Had a really good time visiting and painting for a few hours. Andy was a good dog and didn't bother Nancy too much, I was glad. He usually likes to get people to throw the ball for him but I told Nancy to not even do it once. Don't let it get started or he'll never give up.

I got the second placemat finished last night. I think I actually like this grouping of squares better than the multiple colors in first one.

More color! This was done with my old set of Pelikan gouache paints from the 1980's. You can't buy this set anymore. It comes with gold and silver and some other different colors from the new version. I'm glad I have both sets to choose from now.

I don't think I've mentioned a recent movie that I watched that I really liked: "Three Thousand Years of Longing". About a woman played by Tilda Swinton and the genie she releases played by Idris Elba. One of the best movies I think I've seen in a while.

And finally - here's 11 pictures from the walk Candy and I took at the Wolf Creek Narrows Natural Area yesterday - spring flowers, trees, water:

The trail goes through this rocky place.

Wolf Creek and a nice rocky beach.

A field of white trilium.

Lots of wild blue phlox.

Closeup.

I always like looking at this tree.

The creek looking upstream.

Wild geranium.

Long spurred violet. I did notice that long protrusion in the back when I took the picture. Now after looking it up I see it's part of the name. That will make it easier to remember next year.
