On the San Diego County emergency website it says: "Partial evacuation: all residents of Fallbrook, north of Highway 76 and west of Interstate 15 to evacuate the community. Evacuees should leave through Pendleton Gate at Ammunition Road and go through Marine Corps Base-Camp Pendleton to Interstate 5 North to San Clemente State Park." Folks, that's not a partial evacuation: there's no part of Fallbrook that doesn't fall in that area. So, basically, they're evacuating the whole town. I guess everyone in Fallbrook is supposed to be going that way - it's one gate ... My best guess is that it's going to be a huge bottleneck, will probably take many, many hours if not days to get everyone out that way. I couldn't get ahold of the long-term care facility where my grandmother lives - hopefully because they're already evacuating - but I spoke to my mom on the phone and she's going to try to make it over there and see what's going on. I just spoke to the residential facility where my grandfather lives. They're evacuating, too. I talked to him and he didn't know anything about it yet - he was sleeping. I told him to take his cell phone with him. He said he doesn't understand how to work it, but I told him to just take it so I can call him later - he does know how to answer it at least. My mom's suppposed to call me back. I wish I had known in time to go get them all and bring him up here. But I guess nobody knew.
I hope they're evacuating mainly as a precaution, and that they don't expect the fire to actually burn all the way to the ocean up here like they're saying it might down south. I'm going to have to find out if I'll be able to get to the evacuation center in San Clemente and bring them back here. If this is still a safe place to bring them back to. This is so much worse than it seemed a couple of hours ago.
Shit.
