Today was the last day of the Cannes International Series Festival, which from what we gather is like the Cannes Film Festival, but for, like, tv series, I guess. We didn't even know it was a thing until two weeks ago, when our informant Cecille messaged us like, "I know this would be, like, really sudden, but if we go to France in two weeks, there's this event with the voices of Ladybug and Chat Noir." (That is actually pretty far from her exact wording, but it was definitely the spirit of what she said.)
We were pretty conflicted, because we wanted to go, but we were (still are) tired and stressed, and that's a pretty big thing to just up and do spontaneously like that (although we have done something similar, when we found out about a Noragami art exhibit in Tokyo...but we'd been to Tokyo before, and are more comfortable in our ability to speak the language...and we had a standing invitation from the editor of Noragami to go tour the Kodansha offices in Japan). Nevertheless, we did want to at least entertain the idea, so the first thing we did was see if the regular public can even go to the event. ...I'm still not sure about that, but the tickets for that day were sold out either way, so the point became moot.
We informed Cecille of our discovery, and she was very apologetic that she had not found out about the event sooner. For some reason, she seems to have taken it upon herself to make sure we get to see the voice of Chat Noir in person someday, and now she has already failed in one attempt. Her devotion to the quest is really quite admirable, although I do wish she would acknowledge that we might have some competence in that area ourselves. ...On the other hand, she is the one who found out about this particular event, whereas we had absolutely no clue. So maybe we're not that competent after all. It's good to have friends. XD
Anyway, we're remembering it today because now that the event has happened, there are photos of it, which of course Cecille is sharing with us, that being the least she can do after this defeat. On the one hand, it makes us more sad that we missed it, but on the other hand, it's a pretty good motivator to try harder in the future.
Anyway again, we cheered ourselves up by watching Chat Blanc. That little song he sings is so cute!
Today I'm thankful for friends who are willing to drop everything and travel around the world with us so we can see voice actors in person (or go to art exhibits, as was the case with Noragami), today's simulpub chapter only taking us ten minutes from start to finish, also making pretty good progress with the rest of work, catching another Scarlet legendary Pokemon, and Chat Noir/Blanc's cute little song.
travel,
