Editing the registry when you have no idea what you're doing is like randomly replacing elements of a car engine with duct tape. Sure, you may feel like a real mechanic at first, but sooner or later, the engine is going to fall out of your car in the middle of the highway.

The attacks continue. Looks weak, though; evidently they've run out of javascript exploits and are now down to phishing. Tsk. Although they seem to be using previously-broken accounts for the phishing, so they get some credit for tiering their attack methods.

The nice thing about knowing the basics of programming is that picking up a new language for some task or other isn't an overwhelming burden. Looks like I'm going to switch to php for the website; the perl scripts I was using are getting cumbersome ( Read more... )

Senior programmers' comments center on interfaces, abstractions and the proper format and alignment of comments.
My comments center on instances of incorrect logic.
Not that I'm right. But the heated argument on whether it is proper to refer to a function's caller in a comment gets dull after the first two hours.
