-I volunteered at the Nature Center for the past two days. It was so much fun. The educational guys are full of amazing info. I learn something new and amazing every time. For example, a golden eagle can take down a deer.

Little man looked at me during dinner and said, "Mom, when Brock Obama goes to sleep at night, does he snore?"

(He used to just call him Rock Obama, so Brock is an improvement.)

What I gave her- a purple shirt, pink windbreaker pants, and her hair in a bun on the top of her head.
What she added- black socks, silver tennis shoes, and a pink tutu over the pants.

Little girl has been sneaking into our bed late at night/early in the morning.  We never had a problem with it, until she had pinkeye a few months ago and cuddled up with me. I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to Little Man in the last few days. I amused myself by stopping every few chapters and saying, "Okay, Brother, maybe we should stop and read more tomorrow."  He'd say, "No, no! Keep reading!"  I loved how wrapped up in the story he was. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a lifelong addiction to books. ( Read more... )

I'm trying to teach my chilren that yelling, "OW!" at the top of their lungs doesn't mean I'm going to come investigate and get the other one in trouble. They are going to have to use their grasp of the English language to actually tell me what's wrong. It's going to be a loud day.

I always take the kids with me when I vote. I think it's important for them to see the process. I didn't know how it worked until the first time I voted. We've gone enough that little man says, "That's the the church where we vote," when we drive by.

At Ketner's Mill, the whole family was sitting on the grass, eating honey-covered almonds, and watching people.
Little man: Mommy, why do some people put clothes on their dogs.
Me: I think it's some kind of sociopathic tendency.
LM: Oh.

He said, "Oh," with such gravity that it cracked me up.

-Finally got the application for the coveted kindergarten turned in. *sigh of relief*  That's been a huge stress on me for months. Now there's nothing more I can do but wait for the letter in December.
