... I don't know that you can call it that.... there's only a few inches on the ground. But they called off school today due to the extrememly high winds and subzero temps.

This is odd fOr me being from northern MN... it had to be -60 before they called school off because of temperature.  That being said.... HOORAY for a day off.

... there's nothing quite like high school homecoming.  Honestly.  I don't teach at the high school or middle school anymore (or right now) but there's something universally funny about watching the small Homecoming parade they throw for the little kids.  They all get dressed up ridiculously, bond together as a sole unit and scream cheers while ( Read more... )

I am back at work today.  Mind you, this is of my own free will with the added incentive that if I work 4 half days between now and August 15th that I will be allowed those 4 half days at scheduled times during the school year.  Flex days.  We got them in exchange for no raise this year... not that there was much choice in that matter really.  ( Read more... )

With students that is.... but really that's what I care about!  After 11:30 am the students will be gone for the summer.  WHEE!
I have to hang around a couple extra days next week and get all my stuff done but that's not so bad. 
Here's to the end of my 8th year of teaching in the public schools.  Woot!

... we have parent teacher conferences tonight.  Which usually means that I sit here from 4-8 and see no one.  However, since I am using the actual grading system here at the school for the 3rd-5th graders this year, grades are not all A's anymore so I may see more parents this time around.  Which will be fine as long as no one raises their voice ( Read more... )

So, back to school time has started and my body seems to be getting use to the early to bed and early to rise thing again... not happy about it most mornings but it is getting used to it. ... its official.  Next year I'm elementary full time.  I think I still have to pick up one general music class that is 9-12 but MUCH easier than trying to teach all grades and keep up with all the paperwork.  NO MORE TEENAGERS!  And even though I adore my HS students and will miss them...
