... I have been torching beads again and finally had enough to fire a whole kiln shelf full this past weekend.  And for the first time EVER... all the beads that went into the kiln for annealing, made it back out in one piece!  YAY!  Look under the cut for pictures of the beads.

... you need to stop over torching the transparent glass if you wish to eliminate the smokey bits.  As stupid as you think the phrase "cool part of the flame" is, start using it!  

... another batch of lampwork beads!  These ones I'm particularily proud of because of my use of dots and overlaying dots.  I worked REALLY hard to get this technique down.

... I told one of my RF.com buddies that i would post pics of the rest of the lampwork beads since he's already offered to buy two from me.  I figured as long as he's ordering he might as well see all of them in case any more catch his eye.

 ... I traded off some beads for a smudge stick and a really nifty knitted pouch.  I'm very excited that someone was interested enough in my beads to actually want to trade anything for them.  So, I listed a small lot of them in my shop... we'll see if they sell.  In the meantime... here are some pics of some others I've made.

... I'm getting better at the torch.  However, I am sort of ashamed of the way the pictures of my first handful of beads turned out... not necessarily because I had to use my camera instead of the fancy one but because photographing beads... VERY difficult.  Anyway... I'll share the crappy pictures anyway.

I'm getting better at this lampworking thing.  Eventually I'm gonna need more glass rod and greater variety but the glass rod I got for Christmas from Abby (Kirk's sister) and my Mom are helping me to understand how the glass works and behaves and how to better stack and form beads.  I'm also pretty darn impressed with the way I am not having ( Read more... )
