Local Denton musician, Andrew Tinker, beat out all the Austin Bands on the Austin City Limits Sound and the Jury contest. Next step, a battle of the bands with the top 5 (out of 1500 original bands) down in Austin on the 30th. winning band plays a spot at ACL and wins some prizes.

I went to the Fight Bite/Vivian Girls/Ariel Pink show at Hailey's last night. In between the Vivan Girls/Ariel Pink sets, this REALLY great Snakefinger-ish instrumental music played. I lived in Denton for five and a half years and loved the city. One of the main reasons I decided to go to UNT in 1999 was because of the music scene and all the great venues for up and coming bands: Rubber Gloves, Brickhaus ( Now Banter), Andy’s, Dan’s Silverleaf, Rick’s Place (now long gone), and Cool Beans.
