So I find myself wondering how many people are political independents because they are free thinkers who decide their votes based on what the candidates are saying. And how many people are political independents so they can pretend they don't have to own the fuckups of their not-so-secretly preferred political party?

So President Obama has authorized a (not so) covert drone war in the Middle East and Pakistan. The drones are unmanned, flown remotely from (not so) secret bases out in one of our western deserts. President Obama nominated this man, John Brennan, to head the CIA. Mr. Brennan was an advocate of the use of torture in intelligence gathering, which means he's pretty far up on the governmental shithead list, and the President just jumped up several spots for nominating him. Day 17 is Villain, and I kinda want to pick Mitt Romney, so I'm going talk about politics, and give the answer in another post. At last week's debate, Gov. Romney noted that he was going eliminate funding for PBS as a way of closing the deficit. PBS gets $444 million a year in funding, which sounds like a lot, but is in fact, .02% of the deficit. Vastly irritated by the announcement that the Republican platform has a "Constitutional Amendment to ban abortion." If you think what the country needs is a centrist party, you should shut up now. We have a centrist party--the Democrats. If we're going to have a third party, it should be left-wing. If nothing else, when the Republicans call everyone socialists, they'll be right about some of us.
