Luke Schenn has officially been told that he will be staying in the NHL. I'm thrilled at this opportunity for him, but not-so-thrilled about what coach Ron Wilson had to say about possibly being released for the world juniors.

D Luke Schenn (aka Lukey, Schenner) had his NHL debut tonight with the Toronto Maple Leafs against the defending champs Detroit Red Wings. Much to my disappointment, he played an excellent game. 17 minutes, 3 shots (1 hit, 1 miss, 1 block), 3 hits, even rating. Hockey Canada and the CHL announced today that the 2012 World Junior Championship will be held in Edmonton and Calgary. Pretty much the most exciting news I've ever gotten. I might actually get a chance to go to this. I don't know if I can wait three and a half years, though ( Read more... )

Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Stefan Legein has reportedly decided to hang up the skates at the age of 19.

Columbus GM Scott Howson confirmed the report while his parents denied it. No reason for the "retirement" was given. Legein's agent gave the news to the team.

Today I recommend a set of DVDs that I purchased today. During this terrible hockey drought (read: Summer), I found myself desperate to watch a hockey game, any hockey game.

Preferably involving junior boys.

From many generations.

So, I ran out to Best Buy and bought Canada's Juniors: The Gold Standard.
