Hockey Canada and the CHL announced today that the 2012 World Junior Championship will be held in Edmonton and Calgary. Pretty much the most exciting news I've ever gotten. I might actually get a chance to go to this. I don't know if I can wait three and a half years, though.
Canada will host the event twice before that, the 2009 tournament in Ottawa, and Saskatoon and Regina in 2010.
In other WJC news... the Canadians are still looking for a new head coach after the withdrawl of Benoit Groulx (in favour of coaching AHL Rochester). Right now it looks like it will be one of two men, either Willie Dejardins, who is currently an assistant coach for the team, or Pat Quinn, former coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and two Canadian Olympic teams.
