I like calendars. I've been using a hand-rolled web based solution - called, cheesily, ourCal - for about 5 or 6 years now. I hacked it up over an evening and have never really felt the need to make it any more complicated.

And the third big ticket item for Data::ICal::DateTime was some refactoring of the recurrence-id stuff. I moved the stuff for unifying RECURRENCE-ID stuff into a seperate function collapse() which means that in EventQueue I can have a function which gathers all the events from all the providers and then collapses them where necessary. After I'd done the last release of Data::ICal::DateTime I realised that I wasn't exploding recurring events and that recurrence-ids weren't being handled properly for exploded events and ... Data::ICal::DateTime started off fairly simply and it seems to have grown massively and I keep finding odd edge cases. Le Sigh.

Ages ago I wrote a web based calendar and it was good.

All this calendaring stuff has been about the aformentioned EventQueue and I finally got round to sitting down and banging out the framework for finally building it.

Perl is weird. I mean, I know a lot of people think that it's weird full stop but sometimes it really suffers from the opensource malaise - the glaring holes in functionality that everyone knows about but no-one seems to want to fix -PGP is a particular favourite of mine. Then, cos I was on a roll and blowing my own trumpet (not as easy as it sounds) I knocked together Data::ICal::DateTime which should go on CPAN as soon as Jesse releases my patched version of Data::ICal.

In short it uses mixins to define some convenience methods for Data::ICal and Data::ICal::Entry::Event for dealing with DateTime.
