Title: No Really, I'm Fine (5&6/12)
Author: daydream4way
Beta:  sammiturnmeon
Pairing: Jalex
Rating: NC-17 (overall)
Summary: Loosely based on the album No Really, I'm Fine by the Spill Canvas. It's the story of how Jack is completely, painfully in love with Alex, and how Alex's new relationship drives him over the edge. It's going to be quite a bit angsty and probably a little sad at times. Each chapter will be around 500 words, and will be titled after a different song on the album. So, as if it wasn't already obvious, you should really go listen to The Spill Canvas right now. That is all. Enjoy ;) PS. Comment!

MASTERPOST

Chapter Five: Hush Hush
"Your heart is charcoal; smoking black. Why don't you just tie the mattress to your back?"

As quiet as he may appear to fans, Zack Merrick throws the best fucking parties. Everyone who knows All Time Low knows that Zack’s parties are the place to be. With it being St Patty’s day, and with them having a three week break in between tours, Zack has decided that it’s time for another monstrously huge party full of too much alcohol, and not nearly enough nudity (if you ask him).

Jack watches Rian awkwardly talk to Cassadee and thinks, why can’t I do that? Ever since that disastrous kiss last week on the bus, things have been more than weird between him and Alex. Last night on stage, Alex kissed Zack instead of Jack, and yeah, that hurt a lot, but Jack can’t really complain. It’s what he asked for after all. It’s just… Jack can’t help but feel like he’s messed everything up.

Like this morning, Jack reached over Alex’s hand to grab the butter, and their hands brushed. Alex immediately yanked his hand away as if Jack had burned him. He really doesn't know what was going on, but he needs to talk about it with someone, and since Rian is the only person he’s even told about his feelings, he waits patiently for an opportunity.

What seems like hours later, but is really more like twenty minutes, Rian gets up and walks over to the kitchen, leaving Cassadee in a fit of giggles. Jack walks over to him.

“Hey, good job. She’s mad about you. I told you.”

“Hey man. What the fuck is up with you and Alex?” So Rian has noticed it too? Good. Jack was starting to worry he was going crazy.

“I was going to ask you that. All I know is ever since I kissed him last week…”

“You kissed him? You kissed him?” Rian looks like he was just slapped in the face with this statement.

“Yeah. Alex kisses me all the time, what’s the big deal?”

“Yeah, Alex kisses you. You never kiss Alex.” Jack thinks for a moment about this statement. It’s true; he doesn’t. But that’s because he’s too hopelessly in love with Alex to be able to stand being in the same room as him sometimes, let alone attached at the lips.

“How do you know that?”

“Well Alex said…” Rian stops. He looks like he’s going to say something, but decides against it. “Talk to Alex. I’m serious Jack. I wouldn’t tell you to if I didn’t think… Go find him. Ask him why he’s been acting weird.” Jack is way too drunk to keep up with this confusing conversation.

“What did Alex say?”

“Talk to Alex, Jack. I didn’t tell him what you said so I’m certainly not going to tell you what he said. I’m sick of being in the middle of people’s drama. Why does everyone come to me with their problems?” Rian buries his face in his hands, exhaling loudly.

“Okay, geez Rian, sorry. I’ll go look for Alex. You take the night off.” Jack rolls his eyes as he walks away. Drummers, they can be such divas at times. He navigates the halls of Zack’s giant house, looking for Alex.

He bumps into Matt Flyzik and asks him if he’s seen Alex. He tells Jack that he thinks he might have went into Zack’s spare room, and Jack walks towards it without hearing the end of Matt’s sentence.

This is it, Jack thinks. This gets settled here, once and for all. He opens the door of Zack’s spare room calling out Alex’s name, and comes face to face with Alex having sex with Jordan Witzigreuter. And somehow the only thing Jack can think in that second is that he’ll never listen to the Ready Set again.

Chapter Six: Reckless Abandonment
"I'm not concerned with pleasing all those little pricks and all their little scenes."
“Jack, I…” Jack walks away before Alex can finish that sentence. He doesn’t even know where he’s going. He just needs to get away. He makes it out of Zack’s house and all the way to the curb before he hears Alex calling his name. And Jack knows he should walk away. If he turns around, he’s going to say a lot of things to Alex he’ll probably really regret. But before he has the chance to keep walking, Alex is grabbing his shoulder, “Hey man, what the hell? You just barge in on me when there was clearly a sock on the door and then you don’t even apologize? And then you storm off like I did something wrong? What the fuck Jack?”

“Oh just fuck off Alex. I’m not in the mood tonight.”

“You’re not in the mood? What the fuck does that mean?” What does it mean? It means that on the night that Jack was finally going to tell Alex how he feels, he walks in on him and another guy, and if that isn’t a sign that they’re not meant to be together, Jack doesn’t know what is.

“Do I have to spell it out for you? God Alex, when did you become such a slut?” As soon as the words escape his mouth Jack wishes he could bring them back.

“Excuse me?” Alex asks, his voice almost a whisper. Jack knows he should apologize, but he’s too hurt and too angry.

“Seriously, how many guys have you slept with this month? Hmm? Do you even know!?” Because Jack does. Jordan is number 8 (that Jack knows of anyways).

“Fuck you. You’re just jealous because you haven’t gotten laid lately. I’m sorry if people like me more than you.”

“You think they sleep with you because they like you!? They sleep with you because you’re in a band… because you’re famous.”

“Maybe. Maybe they sleep with me because I’m a good guitar player. Because I have talent. And maybe that’s why you’re jealous.”

“Oh yeah Alex, you have tons of talent, loads. Too bad your kind of talent is only good in bed, or on your knees.”

“What have you ever done for this band Jack? You rode my coattails this entire time. I wrote our music. I booked the shows. I got us the record deal.” Where the fuck is all this coming from? Jack doesn’t even think about what he’s about to say, he’s so angry he can’t even see straight.

“Yeah, big deal Alex, whoring yourself out to get a record deal. Yeah, I know you fucked that producer at Hopeless, so if you’re proud of being a prostitute…” Jack’s sentence is interrupted by Alex’s fist colliding with his face, and the impact is so powerful it sends Jack back about 3 feet.

Rian runs over, pulling Alex away, and Alex just pushes him and walks away. Jack doesn’t even look to see where he’s going, his eyes filling with tears as Rian hugs him. “Hey, Jack, what the hell just happened?”

“I don’t know Rian” Jack says in between sniffles, “but I think I just lost my best friend.”
A/N: Oh no! Jack :( Gah, I'm not the best at writing angst, and gosh, the next chapter is even more angsty. Hmm, was it too much? Also, Who else thinks Jack really needs to talk to Alex? Comments are like hot fudge sundaes when it's so hot outside even your eyeballs sweat.
