Some thoughts... We'll start with the movies.

In the film dramas, this will either be the year of Brokeback Mountain or Good Night, And Good Luck. Both are nominated for multiple awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay. Just watched the new Doctor Who trailer and... well... Not so much a trailer, as it had no new footage at ALL. What it did manage to do was spoil nearly the entire previous season in 40 seconds. Impressive.

I am NOT optimistic about this. When you remake a piece of crap like the original Battlestar Galactica, statements like "it will be a radical reinvention" are fine. But The Prisoner was one of the finest TV shows ever made. If they MUST reinvent it, I can say why they'd want to update it. But "radical reinvention" is not a phrase I'm happy with ( Read more... )
