Night 48: F31-F40 Hallway

Mar 23, 2010 21:40

No assignment tonight. That was strange, Meche thought--but then, only a few people had replied to Hitsugaya's roll call, so maybe there just weren't enough of them who were in good enough shape to take on a new job. It made sense for them to take a little time off after what had happened last night.

There was that report--neatly handwritten ( Read more... )

[From here, going to F34.]

His flashlight slowed its bounces in time with his stride as he reached his initial destination. It felt good to run. It rather felt like years since he had last experienced that one little freedom still left to him. Perhaps if he could remain somewhat whole and rested for a few hours, he'd be able to experience it again. He still wasn't human enough to feel tired - really, his breath was as even as when he'd left his room by the unlocking door - but the short pains from the nearly-healed knife stab were human enough. He rather enjoyed them, in a masochistic way.

It took him a moment to gather his senses before he knocked on the door - as self-assured as he was feeling, one tiny human girl was more than often enough to shake that from him. But, he thought, she needs it as much as I do. If her easy blushes were anything to tell - which they were - they needed it equally as badly ( ... )

Had she fallen asleep? Bella couldn't exactly remember eating dinner - had she seen her roommate ( ... )

The first thing he noticed was the apparent emptiness of the room. It had been dark and quiet before he had heard the rustling of the sheets through the door. Being the only occupant in the room, he must have awoken her. She surely wouldn't have wasted time sitting in bed - not after her adventure last night had probably instilled a dangerous sense of confidence. As much as he did love said confidence in her, he was still extremely wary of how potentially dangerous the hallway trips could be. Better him than her, after all ( ... )

Bella was prepared to ask another question, to scold him for wandering out on his own, but suddenly she was silenced, and her eyes widened slightly before instantly closing.

Many things ran through her head at first at Edward's kiss - most of those thoughts had to do with telling him to stop, that he was injured and he shouldn't be doing such a thing when he still had a stab wound on his chest when he knew that there was a chance that she wouldn't be able to control herself (Especially after not been able to embrace and kiss him for what felt like monthsNeedless to say, those thoughts didn't last very long, and a soft sound escaped her. Before long soon she was kissing Edward back with a desperate need. Bella's hands were slowly creeping up his chest and shoulders and around his neck. Once one hand was placed around his neck, her other hand proceeded to take up the usual spot; her hand lifted and she ran her fingers though his dark hair, fingers moving over his scalp ever so lightly before stopping ( ... )

His hands were as curious as hers; they didn't linger long on her shoulders when she met him with equal fervor, instead traveling down her back to lift the ends of her shirt, situating his hands in the curvature of her spine. He had the mind to cup them around her thighs and hoist her up - he had no doubt she would follow suit, wrapping her legs around his hips - but he still had that self-instilled fragility in his touches. That small, mental voice nagged at him, reminding him to stop, stop before the irritating burn in his throat became an inferno.

Edward was also not willing to brave her nagging about his wound if he tried that, because it would hurt ( ... )

His hands on her back caused her to shudder, wanting more from him and his chilled hands. Surely he knew what he was doing to her -

But all too soon he pulled away, and instantly Bella's happy thoughts were replaced by the eternal thoughts of worry. ... Not to mention his arrogance on the entire thing didn't help. Her expression when he pulled away was one of dry annoyance. "Don't push it, boy. I'll reinstate the five foot distance at all times rule."

Despite her protests, for the moment Bella found herself unable to move away from her fiance. Her fingers against his head moved slowly through his hair for a few more seconds before she looked up at him through her lashes once more. Moments later she was untangling herself, taking a few steps back so she could look at him without being blinded by the haze of lust. "Speaking of which, I want to see what your wound looks like."

At that point, Bella motioned towards her bed, ready to hold her ground if he protested.

Oh. Well, at least he had expected the annoyance, or his pride might have been a little injured by that look. At least her increasing heartbeat tempo couldn't sound annoyed. Maybe I'm losing some of my touch? With the mention of her little rule, the smile from his face was demoted to a frown, his lips pursed in displeasure. It wasn't the rule alone, really; he didn't like her walking away from him, either. Was she still so worried about the wound? - oh. No, of course she was. He slithered up to her quietly, just avoiding hitting his hip on her desk, to place his hands around her hips and twirl her so she was facing him. Gently, he pushed her past the bed until her back hit the wall beside it. "You're not going to see much in this light," he said, though the flashlight was shining a warning beacon to the ceiling, creating its own little sphere of light. If he'd had completely human eyes, he'd probably only seen the slight shine of her hair - or maybe the curve of her cheek. Picking up one of her hands, he placed it on raised skin where ( ... )

She should have known he was going to be difficult, but for some reason she didn't. When Bella felt his hands on her hips, she blinked in surprise, spinning around to face him as he slowly moved her towards the wall. Stumbling over her feet at first, her hands moved to grasp tightly onto his shirt so she wouldn't fall ( ... )

"I used to be able to reattach my limbs at will, and this surprises you?" Ignoring the fact that, yes, he was surprised himself, this thought amused him greatly. It was strange how Landel had changed him. He wasn't human... but he was. He was still cold, still dead, but slow and clumsy and someone who needed light to see. Goodbye, night vision. But he was weak. Oh, he was weak - in many ways. For a male who was fond of wrestling matches with his brothers and saw some semblance of joy in facing a vampire army (or at least the idea of it, since he'd sat out with some... coercion), being as weak as a human was uplifting. Because he could squish his fiancée against a wall and trail his hands along the soft curves of her bones and not be afraid they would snap like a bird's bones would.

So he could be stabbed. You win some, you lose some. This - this - was worth that.

He answered her confession with his own: "I love you." His next kiss showed her exactly how much he had missed her without using words.

"Well, I never saw that happen," she told him with a frown, albeit she was relieved. "And if I saw such a thing happen chances are I would have freaked out just as much as I am now. Maybe even more." Honestly, how could she not be surprised at such a thing as reattaching limbs? It terrified her. But, then again, anything that had to do with Edward being in pain terrified her. Even when he wasn't injured she was terrified of the possibility of him hurting ( ... )

Voicing his pleasure with an audible, "Mmmm," he pulled back before the sound became a little too vocal - and before his mouth became a little too wet. His venom was still a danger, whether or not people seemed to... not be harmed by it. Actually, he didn't have proof one way or another; the only thing clear was that it had lost the potential to turn humans to his kind. Venom had been an accident: he'd died immediately after. But the boy from last night had seemed fine... though, of course, Edward's glance at him had been cursory at best. He'd need to seek him out since he knew the boy was still alive ( ... )

Edward's words caused her cheeks to flush, and Bella bit her lip to stop herself from making a stupid comment. However, at his "proposition," she stopped biting her lip and responded. "Hm, why not? It's not like there's anything else to do."

Minus continuing to kiss and whatnot, but that was beside the point.

Untangling herself from Edward's reaching hands, Bella took a few steps away and reached into her pocket, grabbing her flashlight. She couldn't even remember when she placed it there - it must have been at his first kiss. Surely that was it.

"The stars, hm? Mr. Cullen, I do believe you're trying to get romantic with me," a smile, and the teenager moved towards the door, throwing it open before turning to look at him with that same happy smile. "Let's go."
