Day 36: Courtyard

Oct 17, 2008 20:06

Scar didn't have to think long about which direction to be escorted in for the third shift. He didn't quite enjoy the human activities these nurses forced them to do, so it wasn't much of a surprise that he soon found himself sitting on the grass in the courtyard ( Read more... )

Now, that had sucked Desian ass. As entertaining now as the mental image of Kratos covered in orange juice was, the ensuing argument was not. It was a good thing Raine had shown up or she might have just given Kratos a face-full of cereal or something else in the middle of all that. It wasn't her fault he was the current embodiment of betrayal to her, reminded once again how much it hurt to be betrayed when Soubi did it to her ( ... )

Unfortunately, given Sheena's upside down position and the effects of gravity, he couldn't see her face past her breasts, only some of the purplish-black hair that stick out ever which way from her ponytail. The ninja had felt the man's presence as he got close, so she dropped her hand back to the ground.

She opened her eyes to find herself staring at some guy's shins and she sighed, walking forward on her hands a few paces before shifting her weight to raise the opposite hand than before up off the ground, still managing to balance perfectly. For now.

"You might wanna watch where you're going," Sheena suggested, closing her eyes again. "Unless you've got a foot fetish or something.:

Even with a broken arm, Guy wasn't about to hold off on heading outside if he was given the chance. Seeing how he had managed to get a good, hearty meal under his belt last shift, he was feeling a little more awake and aware. The pain was unrelenting, but it wasn't like that was a new experience for him ( ... )

Even though it made no practical difference--the walls were just as much prison walls outside as they were inside--Leon felt that being outdoors was slightly less stifling. The sports field was his usual choice as it allowed him more room to spar--as much as the nurses would let him--but after his discussion with Seiya he wasn't really feeling up to seeking out a sparring partner. Nothing to do tonight, and the day almost over without his having figured out a solution.

Frustrated and at a bit of a loss, Leon took a seat on a bench near the pond. Another boy was already there, one with a broken arm, so Leon nodded in his direction and managed a mostly-civil greeting, "Hello." Ugh. This place was really starting to get to him, if he was greeting everyone semi-politely simply out of habit now.

Being approached by a stranger was somewhat rare in this place, though that probably had something to do with the fact that Guy was generally the one seeking out other people to talk to. Granted, the company was welcome, and he made sure to move over and give the younger patient some space when he took his seat.

"Hey," he greeted, looking the teenager over and realizing that he had seen him around the institute quite a few times before. The stranger was no newcomer, that was for sure. Guy was surprised that he hadn't gotten any questions about the broken limb, but maybe everyone was used to their fellow patients being badly injured by now.

"How's it going?" he asked, not seeing the need to start getting into any sort of heavy conversation right off the bat. Sometimes it was nice to just have a normal chat with someone.

Leon didn't see any reason to ask about the other man's arm--he'd probably broken it fighting some monster or another, and it would heal in due time. Not much to discuss, really. With the collective bestiary being available on the message board there wasn't much point in trying to get information about individual monsters out of the victims--easier just to read their accounts. Anyway, asking questions about the other man's arm could lead to Leon being asked questions about his hand, and that wasn't something he particularly cared to contemplate. "Uneventful, I guess. Stayed in last night, not sure what to do tonight, either."

"...along with the courtyard and the recreational field..."

It hadn't occurred to Michiru that the institute would allow the prisoners patients to venture outside of the building itself. If there was an 'outside', there was a wall. And most walls could be climbed, if you had the determination to do so. It wasn't a solid fact that 'escape' meant 'outside', but there was no harm in using her time to note the possibilities ( ... )

"It seems you had the same idea I did," a voice called out from across the pond. Kunzite stood at the water's edge, an emotionless expression on his face as his eyes glanced over toward Michiru. After a moment, he raised his head toward the sky, watching with jealousy as a small flock of geese soared overhead. "We've chosen a good day to be outside...I've not experienced such pleasant weather in all my time here." His eyes returned to Michiru's reclined form, that uncontrollable smirk once more on his lips.

The meeting with Sousuke earlier left the swordsman rather uncomfortable, and for reasons he could not quite formulate. Standing here at the water's edge, however, calmed him, as it had calmed him in Doyleton. It is too familiar, he thought, this love of the water...damn you, Shin, why can you not be expunged from my mind? Crouching gently, Kunzite rested on his heels, gazing even more intently into the still waters, the slow ripples from Michiru's manipulations making small splashes on his bank.

For all the good that her few moments of repose did her, the voice that reached Michiru's ears from across the pond shattered the calm that she'd been enjoying. The senshi opened her eyes, giving the familiar man nothing short of a glare. Why he was even attempting to make conversation with her, she couldn't fathom, but she would be having none of it.

She watched Kunzite just long enough to be sure he wasn't up to anything suspicious. Sensing nothing malicious from him simply standing next to the opposite bank, she turned onto her back and closed her eyes again. It was going to take more than that to get Michiru to converse with that man again. With any luck, he would take her lack of comment as a hint and go away.

"Hmph," Kunzite snorted audibly, watching with mild amusement as the girl turned over and away from him. Clearly his last impression upon her was not positive, but he was still mildly intrigued at her behavior; as far as he could tell she had not him on her world, and her antagonism toward him was perplexing. Not so insulting, however, that Kunzite would walk away with his tail between his legs - and even if he WAS hurt, he'd hardly take like a child and flee - but, regardless, he was enjoying the environs today, and a put-off Sailor Soldier was not going to change his attitude by behaving so passively-aggressive toward him.

He was so preoccupied with the state of his optics that Teisel barely noticed that the nurse had led him outside until she turned around to ask whether he'd prefer to sit on a bench or on the grass. Momentarily confused, he settled for sitting under a tree near the large pond that dominated the space. It was easier to curl into a ball on the ground, after all, which was what he felt like doing under the circumstances ( ... )

[mind a healbot :D?]

"My, you really slept a whole lot today!"

Atoli couldn't disagree, once she found out what time of the day it was already. "O- oh no..." Her mom usually scolded her for doing that. With an apologetic look, the Cleric bowed her head slightly at the nurse who came to get her. "I'm sorry! I'll try not to do it again!"

To her surprise, she wasn't reprimanded for it; rather, the nurse smiled sweetly and assured her it was all right, although she shouldn't try to do it often. Afterwards, she was asked where she wanted to go for the day, and given the choices Atoli decided to try outside again, just like she had done before. Last time she didn't get to look around much, and it was very nice out there ( ... )

[Not at all! :)]

The voice was so soft, Teisel nearly missed the question. "Huh?" Raising his head to tell the busybody to get lost, he was dismayed to see that it was a girl about Tron's age. Damnit. He wanted to be left alone, but he couldn't very well tell a young lady to scram without it being ungentlemanly. Despite what certain people might think, Teisel was not in the habit of being unnessecarily rude to women of any age.

"I'm, uh, not quite sure, actually," he said with a nervous laugh. Great. He, a grown man and an air pirate to boot, was avoiding hysterics only through a great deal of willpower, and who was witness to this? A teenage girl. If a karamuna showed up right now, Teisel would jump right into its jaws and end it all.

Atoli's face went from concern to curiousness; that was a sort of odd response. Surely, even with the circumstances considered, one would know how they were fairing! Then again, with the way the man looked, it was understandably so that maybe he was just as confused with a lot of things like she were.

"You seem a little, ah..." Atoli wasn't quite sure what the appropriate word could be. After some thought she shook her head. "Well, it's just a little sad seeing someone by themselves when they're not okay."

The opportunity to go outside wasn't one Homura was going to pass up. A chill was in the air, the fall weather crisp and so unlike that of the heavens. Part of him had been hoping there would be flowers out here, even if not in abundance, but it seemed it wasn't to be. Regardless, he moved along the path, for the first time that day having a chance at being alone ( ... )

It was, it had to be said, very very tempting to head into the library, knock over a bookshelf and spend a couple of minutes just feeling at home amongst the debris of the bookalanche. There was just something now that struck him as fundamentally wrong about a neat and tidy library. He blamed Tenpou for that entirely.

In the end though, he decided to avoid temptation and headed outside. A bit of fresh air was never unwelcome, and he loved seeing the change of the seasons, no matter how abnormally it occurred here.

He spotted a familiar face a little way along the path, and frowned slightly. Their conversation had been cut off last night, and Homura had to be feeling the weight of things that this version of him wasn't accustomed to bearing. Kenren sighed, running a hand through his hair tiredly, before heading over to the other god.

"Hey," he said as he approached, not wanting to startle Homura considering the things that he'd probably just remembered.

Kenren's greeting was appreciated, and perhaps the only one that wouldn't have been received with a sigh just then. Homura stopped walking, turning enough to acknowledge the man with a slight nod. He could guess at any number of things Kenren wanted to speak about; there were certainly enough topics that warranted attention ( ... )

Kenren flashed Homura a smile in return and moved up beside him so that they could continue to walk, Kenren's shoulder just brushing against Homura's. His other arm was still in a sling which was already starting to piss him off even after only a few hours of wearing it. The nurse had already had to take him off last shift to redo it after he'd fiddled with it so often.

He shrugged in response. "Nothing amazingly exciting yet and I haven't had a visitor this shift at least." His feelings were mixed about that though, he had to admit. On the one hand, he hated having to play into the Institute's hands but on the other, it was Tenpou and he'd never not be glad to see him, no matter what he claimed. He sighed softly though. "I talked to Sanosuke though, 'bout Okita."
