The Ongoing Saga Of Work Is a Four Letter Word

Last week was frustrating on multiple levels.

The weather in Boston has not been kind to us on Newbury Street. We are fully stocked with new season product which focuses on wedge sandals, lots of nude colored shoes, tons of peep toe pumps and lace up flat oxfords. Of course it is between 30 and 40 degress Farenheit and everyone walks in asking for boots. People seem to think that you can buy end of season sale clearance boots in abundance in March. As someone who applied for a Head Office Distribution job back in 2005, it makes me shake my head. Yes, you can buy boots all year long, but they are styles and products that are best sellers in their respective companies and they will not be marked down on clearance. You can also expect starting prices at $300 US dollars. The best time to buy boots is August and September when the stores are fully stocked with multiple styles and full size runs. (Unless you are my size and want Aldo boots, LOL! The sales associates buy up all the 41s!)

OK, now that that rant is done...

My hours got cut to almost 30 until I reminded Sean that I have an extra vacation day that has to be taken before April 30th so I don't lose it. So I do have a full 40hours this week, but less hours means less sales and less commission. Since the store is not making it quotas, everyone got a write up for last week's sales performance. All my required stats were inline, but my Sales per Hour were $142 vs the quota of $147 and I got a write up as well.

Really. Seriously now, I hate being treated like a kid. I hate that I make less money then I did ten years ago and I hate treading water. But worse, I hate this helpless feeling like there's not much out there in the job market that I am qualified to do. Someone on my bus route that comes out to Ceremony was asking me what it was that I loved to do and that I was good at. I know that I joke about the only thing I have any talent for is accessorizing but I'm not in a postion to make that a carreer choice. It's time to get out of this rut and am completely clueless as to how to even get started.

And another thing, anyone who comes into my store, tries on a bunch of things and tells me, "Thank You, I'm going to buy these online." FUCK YOU WITH A CHAINSAW!!!!!
