Well - Red got his first paycheck in 8 months, which will be deposited today (they don't offer direct deposit). This, with the money from a few commissions that came through, plus the rest of our IRS refund will tide us over for June easily - and hopefully some of July. So Red interviewed with Office Max at the end of April for a Supervisor job, specializing in their technology (printers, cameras, etc.) or furniture. Interview went well, but the guy couldn't give Red any information about benefits, pay, etc. - and basically said 'Don't call us, we'll call you ( Read more... )

Job applications are so impersonal these days. All the companies want you to apply online - which sounds good, but there is no personal connection there - which means there's no one to call to say 'did you get my application' 'how's the process going' etc. It can be floating in the ether, with no 'hard feelings' on the part of the HR person ( Read more... )

So I'm working for OfficeMax, atm. I'm not getting paid enough to really cover daycare, and it seems rather haphazard training-wise. But it IS money, so I'm sticking with it, while looking for other jobs.
