Alcohol has set us into a cycle whereby we only get together when we're drinking.  Even then, we don't sit and talk as we play cards and hold beer bottles.  I usually mark time until he careens through a crowd to find me and follow me back to my dorm room.  We are stuck in neutral, and alcohol has made it increasingly impossible to switch gears.

I've been dying to read this book, Smashed by Koren Zailckas for quite some time now.  I started it today and in the preface I see many aspects of myself.  Expect many passages to be quoted in my journal because in some ways I feel like it explains me to myself, and because after I finish I'll have to let my mom read it to understand me more.
