So I made the three-week short mead batch about twenty minutes ago. I bought a two-liter juice jug instead of the milk or water jugs because juice jugs tend to be clear. Ingredients are two pounds of Rita Miller Wildflower Honey again, twelve raisins, half a teaspoon of yeast, and half an orange. Then I made sure to use warm/tepid water for the ( Read more... )

On the advice of the GotMead.com forum-goers, it turns out I do need the raisins. So I bought a six-pack of Nice! raisin boxes, put twelve or thirteen into the mead, and stirred it a bit. Also, I switched the muslin out for a couple layers of saran-wrap, since mead needs a bit of internal pressure. The mead is now fizzing enough for me to hear it, ( Read more... )
