It's cricket season in England now, and of course that reminds us of our old pals Raffles and Bunny. In the short story 'Gentlemen and Players', Bunny talks in the beginning of their being on the stands at Lord's and '...a young fellow of the exquisite type came and squeezed himself in between us...'.

What ho, old chaps! I’m new to this fandom - very glad it exists - and wanted to share this bit of analysis. After reading you may roll your eyes and say, “Thanks, Capt. Obvious” - but when I’ve got a reading on my chest I need to cough it up, and “The Gift of the Emperor” sat on me heavier than most.

I recently finished this book (by Barry Perowne). Anyone who is interested in this reader's views will find them at my journal.

The second series of BBC's drama 'Sherlock' aired recently and it got me thinking. Just as this show is a re-imagining of Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century, could there be a feasible re-imagining of Raffles in the 21st century? There would have to be a lot more computers and electronics of course, maybe hacking into bank accounts and such? What ( Read more... )

A recent trip to London with a couple of hours to spare was the opportunity for me to go on a Raffles pilgrimage. I took a few pictures for anyone who has not had the chance to go themselves. Link to the pictures at my journal.

I find the clothing of the Raffles stories to be quite interesting -- the coats, hats, shoes etc. So I'm thinking of doing a series about various items of fashion and clothing. Just a bit of fun for all of us!
