More ups and downs.

First, to follow up on my last post, my bike's crank was fixed for $5, but this morning I had trouble with the rear wheel/brake. Sigh. The Mercian is rapidly turning into my project bike; thing is, I don't really have time for a project bike. Sigh, again.

Second, I had a fun weekend, including ice-skating on Sunday and meeting the wonderful Big Sister yesterday. Thank you for spending part of your vacation with me, Nicole! (Even better, she's podcasting, so I get to feel like I'm hanging out with her even as she returns to San Francisco.) She reminded me that one must not procrastinate knitting for babies, as babies are unpredictable, so I got started on the first of two blankies (pictured here). It's looking good so far but it could still go terribly wrong...

Sadly, my attitude is not what you'd expect from someone who had a nice weekend and is flush with yarn and ... I don't know what else. Honestly, I don't know what it is--something about realizing half my friends are wearing nightguards for teeth-grinding seems to be getting me down. Something about the inevitable march of non-progress and increased stress and decreased sense of accomplishment. Something about February, maybe... I really don't know. Blah. I hope that the very cute (and it's very soft IRL) nascent blankie will offset the crankiness of this post--cause I'm posting anyway.

PS I don't know why I ever blog from Flickr. I hate the format but tell myself it will be faster--yet I end up editing the code anyway. Dumb.
