The three things that are making me happy today:

-Pumpkin Ravioli with sage brown butter

-The scent of Casablanca Lilies filling the house

-My sweetie playing me the House of the Rising Sun on his guitar

My first nearly ripe persimmons, my new Coconut Palm Tree Lamp, and Dia De Los Muertas pajamas from Target.

Was out watering the new butterfly garden plants, with my back to the Pool, when I heard a loud splash behind me. Thinking one of the Royal Palms had dropped a frond in the Pool, as they are wont to do from time to time, I turned to fish it out, only to be greeted with this sight:

So the Raja Puri is blooming, as is the Lady Finger. Presumably, this means I'll soon be awash in Bananas, which is good, because I just harvested the last of the avocados, and the ambarellas and papayas won't be ready for months yet. Next up, probably the Meyer Lemons, which means more marmelade.

Gardened a bit this weekend, and managed to get some more avocados down from the tree. Some are going out to my dad, and some to Sam's sister in the morning. I'll keep a few, and the rest will b spread to friends and co-workers, because how many avocados, really, can a girl eat? Sam and I took our annual trip up to Silver River in search of the elusive, and heretofore, mythical Rhesus Monkeys.

Only as it turns out, there really ARE monkeys there. And not just monkeys, but also, BABY monkeys!
