I enjoy Mondays. Some good TV: Mastermind, University Challenge and Silent Witness and some comfort food to help - Birds Eye Cod fish fingers and French fries. And a tin of John West tuna for Riley. Might manage a glass or two of Chardonnay...

An evening of binge watching six episodes of DCI Banks seeing that mainstream TV was showing a load of typical Saturday night crap. Now a short spell of listening to Classic FM before bed.

Finally some progress with getting my COVID booster administered at home. It was agreed with my medical centre that I am entitled to home visits for these given my poor mobility. A practitioner will visit on Thursday to give me the jab. I am still waiting to hear from the vaccination team as to when someone can visit to give me a flu vaccination. ( Read more... )

In my local area we were without Virgin Media TV for about 24 hours whilst their local engineer tried to fix the problem. Not too much of a problem for me as I have a 4K UHD Samsung smart TV also connected to the internet, which does not need the Virgin TV box and so I was still able to connect with BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Apple TV and others. I finished watching this seven episode series last night on Sky Max. The Midwich Cuckoos: a major Sky series starring Keeley Hawes and Max Beesley. I read the book by John Wyndham back in the 60s I think it was. The TV series is a modern reimagining of the original book, which was published in the late 50s. I didn't post this last night because shortly after finishing the meal, on a tray on my lap, I fell asleep. Nothing unusual about that nowadays!

This was a simple to prepare affair. Pan fried North Atlantic Salmon fillets and Basmati rice. You will note that I do like rice with my black pepper!
