Just Finished: Erm. I put down a couple of books recently (Aurora by Kim Stanley Robinson and Too Like the Lightning by Amanda Palmer; neither of them were doing it for me), but I did read, and enjoy, Stranger by Sherwood Smith and Rachel Manija Brown. It's been a hell of a week (moved Dad into memory care, sigh), but the worst appears to be over, so I can maybe post.

Currently reading: Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, for book club. Which I am kinda liking and kinda not. It does hit one of my major squicks, but the writing is very good and the characters engaging, so. I guess we'll see.

Just finished: Sense & Sensibility (also just watched the movie), for book club. More busy, but with less narrative, than I remembered. I rather prefer the movie version of Margaret, though: in the book she has fuckall to do. A reread of The Silver Branch, by Rosemary Sutcliff. A bit too much reliant on/in conversation with Eagle of the Ninth, but more vivid and interesting than I recalled it being. (But I still don't think she does a great job distinguishing Flavius and Justin.) ( Read more... )
