My leg really hurts today. Seems like every time I make it do something hard (like shoveling snow or carrying heavy packages or walking with the cane instead of the walker) it hurts longer and recovers a little less than the last time. Simba continues to improve! He's having diarrhea much less often, more normal poo most of the time, and gaining a bit of weight. I did have to stop giving him any dry food at all, it was making him sick. I figure once I've got him completely transitioned over to the prescription wet food, and his diarrhea has resolved completely, I will try again ( Read more... )

Simba had his cardiology appointment yesterday, and the news is all good heart-wise: the vet said his heart was essentially the same as it was in 2019 when he was first diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It's non-symptomatic, not progressing, and except for avoiding certain medications and anesthetics, doesn't need any special care. The ( Read more... )

Well, I was half-planning to try to do my Thanksgiving shopping today, but the weather forecast is 28F high and snow all day, so I'm not going anywhere (except possibly to the mailbox) today. Yesterday, I was in the kitchen with the kitties, giving them treats, when there was a noise out on the porch. Davey, the little guy, jumped and turned around to check it out, then went back to his treats. Mister, on the other hand, didn't even twitch. And it occurred to me, he never reacts to loud noises. Last Monday, Mister Simba had his three-month checkup after his bladder stone surgery, and it went very well! His urinalysis showed no crystals or other problems, and his bladder was clear of stones on x-ray.
