Minamone - ENDRECHERI

Oct 23, 2019 16:21

So, I didn't even remember what I put in the title of my lyrics translation posts. This is how long it has been.
So, today this is out of season but still it's Tsuyo's lyrics, so

Okay, this is one of the songs of NARALIEN [Original Edition], the last one actually, so, let's get into the lyrics of this song written and compossed by Tsuyo himself. I'll talk a little later about the reasons for picking this song and why I find this special. Kanji from here as usual.

ENDRECHERI

水面音

作詞:堂本剛
作曲:堂本剛

Cherry blossom 陽のうたに

Cherry blossom 泣いている

幾秒の針 刻んだ 果ての色彩(いろ)

眼でつかまえて 込み上げ 焦れた 水面音を

煌めく風は 攫えず 眩めいた

気を許したら 還れない 不意な 孤独な今日

あの日の 恋や

あの日の 愛の色彩

誘い出されて 戸惑い 僕を眺めてる

何度 言葉にしたんだろう ... この胸を
眼をそらすように 惚れて 君に逢いに行く

Cherry blossom 陽のうたに

Cherry blossom 泣いている

Cherry blossom 虹んでいく

Cherry blossom 綺麗だよ

ENDRECHERI

The sound of the water surface
Lyrics:Domoto Tsuyoshi
Composer:Domoto Tsuyoshi

A song to the Cherry blossoms in full bloom

The crying cherry blossoms

The hands of the clock ticking away the colors of the extremities

Caught in sight, filled with emotions and anxious about the sound of the water surface.

The sparkling wind without sweeping it away was fascinated.

If I were allowed to never return to the sudden solitary today.

The love of that day and

the shape of love of that day

Being lure into admiration while staring at me

How many times have I put into words... this heart of mine,
wishing to divert your eyes, so in love, I'm going to you.

A song to the Cherry blossoms in full bloom

The crying Cherry blossoms

The Cherry blossoms surrounded by rainbows

The beautiful Cherry blossoms

[T/N]: Again, as usual this time Tsuyo's lyrics were pretty difficult, also pretty, but also difficult. So, I want to mention that this translation especially is very much affected by my interpretation, it's not that rare, actually with my translations. But, I'll write here some of my deductions and my tries to make this flow in an easier way. I know it's always hard with Tsuyo's lyrics and even though I tried so many times with his lyrics it isn't getting any easier, lol.

- Okay, first of all, I didn't know what this song was about, so I searched for his words, and I found this, which is from Ongaku to Hito September 2019 Issue [Cover] ENDRECHERI Domoto Tsuyoshi, I think, since I only found the link, which you'll see is in Chinese. But regardless, his words are pretty interesting. He answered questions about this song in specific. And there they pointed out the connection of this song with ソメイヨシノ (SOMEIYOSHINO) which is an amazing song that I love so much. Here and here you can find translations on the song, you can also read from the first link the reason behind Tsuyo writing this song. So, there's a connection between Minamone and this 13 y.o. song. (so long ago!!) The translation of the article estates that Minamone is said to be the response of Someiyoshino. Also that despite being about Cherry blossoms it is out of season. Then, Tsuyo goes and tells again about Someiyoshino being inspired on his mother and the memories he has since then. The memories that the Cherry blossoms bring back to his mind, also with his dog Kenshiro, and then he was inspired to write Minamone. Now, having some sort of background you can imagine how special this song is, especially remembering how special Someiyoshino is for him being so personal.

- Now, on the lyrics in particular, the first phrase which is repeated later was particularly difficult to translate. This phrase '陽のうたに', so let me guide you towards my reasoning on this and the result. 陽 is read as 'hi' like in day, but this kanji has the following meaning, sunlight, sun or less common: day, days, event, the open (i.e. a visible place), sunshine, yang (i.e. the positive). So, after giving this a thought or two, I think this is referring to the moment when the cherry blossoms are sprouting or in bloom, and it's a song dedicated to that moment in time, when they're at the open. And the following crying part just makes me remember how the petals fall with the wind.

- It called my attention how he uses "眼" instead "目" twice, but I guess is not weird at all being Tsuyo's lyrics, he never goes with the simple. But in this particular case, I'm not sure why he didn't use the more common kanji for eyes, and what I've found around besides that 眼 is a more technical term, is that 眼 is substituted for 目 in non-compounds as a stylistic decision. So, I'm back to the reason being because he's Tsuyo and he doesn't choose the first-that-comes-to-mind/more usual kanji, which speaks more on the lyricist than the actual meaning on the song.

- While in the middle of the final touches on this, I got this idea that maybe this is the perspective on the tree? Because the question in SOMEIYOSHINO was along the lines of what kind of thoughts are you sending us? or What kind of emotions do you (stir up) in us, since I like both translations, so, what if this is about the tree answering? I mean why is today a day with solitude? Maybe because it's out of season, it's August (the release date). That's why I picked to used the word 'extremities' instead of 'limits' or 'the end' at the beginning. Later also he talks about being gazed at in wonderment, like anyone would watch a Cherry Tree in full blossom.
Also I kept the eyes as being of those of the observant near the end, plus it was the used it had in the first mention.
So, by the end I was inspired by this idea of mine, which I don't think affected so much the whole translation to the point of making big changes, and I don't know if at the end it's as obvious as it was to me when I first thought about that. But I liked it.

And that's it, this song was requested at my About lyrics's post and I'm happy I got this opportunity to search on this song. This along with Ongaku o owaraseyo are maybe the songs that are more hybrid in terms of funk, but I like them a lot especially because of lyrics and the special relationship with Tsuyo's past. <3

So, that's it, it was pretty long, sorry, it was hard to put all my thoughts into words.. and I haven't check spelling yet, I'm more sorry about that~. I'm happy that KK will have their concert by the end of the year. I'm so happy about Tsuyo being feeling better about his disease, he also mentioned his hearing having improved a little at least, so I guess it's also that because they're back to concerts. So, lucky the ones who get to go this year :D

And with that I'm done with the entries I was planning on posting here for now. I have so many songs I'd love to try to translate next, on so many groups lol, but I think I'm pretty sure on which will be next. And I want to watch doramas this season, I'm so irregular with them lately, I've already started Black School rules special episodes and Sherlock, I love Sherlock stories in all its forms lol. I'll see what else I'm able to watch this season. With that said I'm saying goodby for now too~
