Milton the cat is gone two years. My heart is still broken, I find.

Whenever we would leave town, we would either arrange food and water for Milton (if it was a short trip) or a cat-visitor (if we would be gone more than a night or two). The moon will be full about 3 tomorrow morning. It was full when Milton died. Some tide has risen in me and grief is bitter. Much worse things have happened in those four weeks, and better things. I am both impressed and appalled that Milton caught a black-capped chickadee. He triumphantly brought it in and we had to praise him for the catch while trying to get him to torment and consume it outside. I couldn't get the cat door to set on "out only." Milton came home two years ago today!

Awww, Milton is being SO sweet to Lucy. He calls to her and touches noses and rubs on her and treats her gently because he knows she's sick. (He, so far, thank goodness, is healthy.)
