Soup dumplings, Shanghai crabs...
Enjoyed delicious food from various places.
Great work on the 2nd Asia tour! Looking back upon it now, how did you feel before the tour started?
Sho: There weren't much anxieties or anything like that. Since it's our second time doing this.
Jun: It's not really anxiety, but there are things which you won't know until you actually go to Shanghai. So it was like "I wonder what will happen?" while we were doing the concert.
Aiba: But I'm really happy that we manage to hold a concert. And we added one more venue for our Asia Tour this time, so it was really great!
Nino: Though it's my first time going to Shanghai, it was really enjoyable.
Aiba, Jun & Ohno: It's my first time too.
Sho: I went there once 3-4 years ago in private. Nobody noticed me when I was walking on the streets & I even toured the city on a cycle rickshaw.
Aiba: You were so looking forward to it [laughs].
Nino: Well, he went there for a holiday/sightseeing, of course he'll be looking forward to it.
Aiba: Did you go to the observatory?
Sho: At that time, they only had the old tower. The new super-tall building was just built recently. Me & my friends walked along a street called "Shintenchi" while singing Ozaki Yutaka's songs [laughs]. But this time we didn't have time to go to any tourist attractions & we just went out for a while to eat. So we didn't get to see the street life this time. But on the last day, I went for a massage with Aiba-kun & Nino.
Nino: We were only able to see the TV tower on the first day, that's about all right?
Aiba: The buildings in Shanghai are nicer/more magnificent than I expected.
Ohno: We got to see some of the buildings while travelling in the car, I feel they look like our concert stage.
Sho: Yeah, yeah.
Ohno: How should I put it, you can't see those kind of buildings in Japan. It's like a movie set. Taipei & Seoul are totally different too.
Sho: And then it's Shanghai crabs. We really~ ate a lot.
Nino: It's served at every meal.
Aiba: It was really delicious!
Sho: MatsuJun ate the most. At the restaurant that we went on the last day, MatsuJun ordered Shanghai crabs. He ate about 2 & he was satisfied. I ate about 2 too. But the restaurant staff kept peeling the crabs "Sakurai-san, I'll peel it for you". Though I was already full, I still ate all the leftover crabs that MatsuJun ordered, so in the end I ate about 4...
Jun: It was really~ delicious!
Nino: But you ate it again when you came back to Japan right?
Jun: Yesterday, I went to eat it.
Sho: It was good meeting with the crabs [laughs].
3rd Nov was the debut anniversary, I heard you guys cheers with each other...
Nino: We were entering our 10th year & at that time we were in Seoul. So we celebrated it together.
Sho: If there wasn't a concert, the 5 of us wouldn't be together. So since all 5 of us are around, we got some champagne & cake to celebrate.
Jun: It was natural we did that.
Ohno: The cake was really grand.
Sho: And after the celebration, we were talking about going out to eat. But Aiba-kun & Ohno-kun were out of battery [laughs].
Aiba: I was very sleepy!
Ohno: Yeah!
Nino: You're not supposed to be "very sleepy".
Aiba: [With a smile] I was extremely sleepy.
*LOL* Aiba, so cuteee~ Be careful Nino plays a prank on you for annoying him XD
Nino: I'm not asking for the degree of your sleepiness.
Sho: But you did eat when we went to the restaurant right?
Aiba: Yeah, it was delicious. I probably ate the most [laughs].
Ohno: Like the Crab kimchi was really delicious! It was really spicy though...
Sho: You ate it with a sleepy face~ We really enjoyed the food.
Aiba: We kept eating soup dumplings in Taipei.
Sho: The first restaurant that we went in Taipei was the one that we went 2 years ago, so the waiters were like "Long time no see".
Jun: It's like "You came again? I remember you."
On the last day in Shanghai,
the bonds with the juniors grew stronger!
How did you spend you time in the hotel?
Nino: In Shanghai, I ate dinner with Riida, the two of us.
Jun: The legendary "Wanton noodle"?
*LOL* Why is it legendary?
Sho: They couldn't understand "Wanton noodle, one please"?
Nino: It was "Wanton noodle, please." Halfway through, the person (on the phone) said "I don't understand what he is saying."
Sho: In Japanese? [laughs]
Ohno: In the end, he brought us a plate.
Aiba: Ahaha. I wonder why he interpreted it as a plate.
For those who are interested to know how Ohno pronounced it...
He talked about this in his radio programme, Arashi Discovery, on 02/12/2008. I translated/subbed the part where the talked about the incident :) I just did quick job cuz it'll probably be subbed again, when I get around to doing the batch of AD translations :p Audio credit to vvvarikavvv :)
Ohno: Foreign language is really difficult.
Aiba: But that's kind of hiccups that will happen right? I was alone in my room.
Jun: On the last day, A.B.C. & Kis-My-Ft.2 gathered together in one room. Sho-kun, Nino & Aiba-chan went for massage, but I didn't want to go, so I gathered everyone for a chat. They (Sho, Nino & Aiba) joined us after they came back from the massage.
Sho: After we came back from the massage, MatsuJun was sitting right in the middle, amongst the juniors. I thought they were having lots of fun & the tension was high, but MatsuJun went "Hey, please join in~" [laughs]. I hurriedly escape to my room.
Nino: Sho-chan was walking right in front, I was second & Aiba-kun was third. When my eyes met with MatsuJun's, I thought he was going to say something. And he said "Hey, you guys, come join us too~"
Aiba: It was fun. There were a lot of people whom we don't usually meet.
Jun: A.B.C. & Kisumai have never really done backup dancing for us before, so we don't really know them. But it was fun.
Aiba: There are a lot of good kids amongst them.
Sho: When I returned to my room, I heard "It's Nikka-chan" (Nikaido Takashi from Kis-My-Ft.2) coming from the corridor. So noisy~ [laughs].
Aiba: Ahaha.
Nino: We asked him repeatedly "Who the heck are you?" & he answered "Nikka-chan" [laughs].
Aiba: That guy, he's young.
Jun: He said he's 18.
Ohno: [Murmuring] 10 years different... [Today happened to be Ohno's 28th birthday]
Nino: Ah, I see~ 10 years age difference, with Nikka-chan.
Jun: Wahahaha.
Sho: That's like one generation apart. Wouldn't it be hard to find a topic to talk about?
Ohno: I don't know what to talk about with them.
Nino: They (the juniors) think so too.
Jun: Me too. I was able to talk to them normally cuz the dance instructor was there. But at the beginning there were only a few of us & I didn't know what to say. So I asked Totsuka (Totsuka Shota from A.B.C) "What did you do at Hanamaru Cafe?" Cuz he was the only one to miss a rehearsal cuz of the show.
Arashi's 10th anniversary ambition, tour the whole country while holding concerts!?
Was it difficult greeting the fans/singing in their language?
Sho: We sang 16 bars in Chinese, then halfway through, it felt like I'm going to start singing in Korean or something. Didn't you guys experience the same thing?
Nino: Really? No, I didn't feel that way. Ahh~ So it's different for everyone I guess.
Jun: Korean was difficult.
Sho: Ah, really?
Nino: It's the opposite for me~
Jun: For Chinese, once you memorise it, you won't forget. Korean was very~ difficult. And cuz I remember some kanji too, so I could somehow speak it. But as for Korean, you can only remember it in katakana, once you forget it, it's hard to recall.
Sho: Ah, so it's the different ways of memorising.
Aiba: My Chinese didn't get through to them... I asked "Are you enjoying yourselves?" in Chinese & there was no reaction at all. I felt lonely.
Awww~ *pats Aiba-chan*
Nino: You spent so much effort to memorise it yet it didn't get through, that's sad/painful ne.
You've approached the 10th year! Tell us what Arashi's ambitions are!
Sho: I think of Shanghai as the last venue of the Asia Tour. But when it's the last concert in Japan, fans from all over the country come to watch us too. So thinking of it in the Asia scale, there were people from Korea, Hong Kong & uchiwas which says "We're from America".
Jun: And Singapore & Thailand too.
Sho: It's amazing how they all gather together like that.
Jun: Yeah, they have to travel overseas.
Sho: So I want to do more concerts in other countries too.
Ohno: For 2008, it felt like we were doing concerts of the whole year, so I hope to continue that in 2009 too. Within Japan, as well as other countries, there are a lot of places that we haven't been to. Though we went to 3 places overseas, on the last day, it was like all of Asia, people from Korea...
Sho: Hey, you comment thief!! Don't act like my comment just now didn't exist [laughs].
Ohno: ...And er, there was this uchiwa that said "Please come to Mongolia"!
*LOL* Yama<3
Nino: Yes! The second Asia tour was really enjoyable. I really felt it's so fun doing concerts.
Jun: We could move our regular programmes up, then hold concerts for 6 days straight. I want to try doing that. We can have concerts at night & have fun in the day.
Aiba: That'd be the best!
Jun: After the concert, we'll just travel to the next venue & stay at the hotel there. Isn't it fun? And when we're free, we can run the tape (to record what they're doing), then play the video during the next concert's MC. Then we move on to the next place, eat & sleep.
Aiba: And have fun! [laughs] It's not cuz it's out 10th year, but it'll be good if we can do something that no one else has done before.
Erm, is this part understandable?^^ What they're saying is that they want to have concert for 6 days straight, without having to go for other jobs in between. So they can just travel from one concert venue to another straight away.
