Out with the old, in with the new

Happy New Year everyone! My 2009 is starting out pretty awesomely. I actually woke up at a pretty reasonable time, and I've just been hanging out reading fic and snuggling under my new Slanket (hilarious name, yes, but it's actually really awesome). Maybe you've seen those commercials for a similar blanket-with-sleeves that comes in a really unfortunate shade of maroonish-brown that makes the people wearing them look like monks. They look dorky, but I secretly really wanted one, since I am always under the blanket with my arms and then I have to be cold every time I want read, or change a channel, or scroll down in the browser. Mom got one for each of us for Christmas (we exchanged our presents last night), so that was fortuitously awesome. I also got Laurell K. Hamilton's new book, and the super awesome The New Annotated Dracula, which I cannot wait to delve into from Mom, and my GPS from Dad (which he gave me earlier this month in time to drive to the Fall Out Boy show). So, it was a good Christmas for me.

Actual Christmas was kind of sucky, though. I had to work a half-day on Christmas Eve, and then back to work on Friday (much like tomorrow :\), so I couldn't go to NC this year. First time I've ever not spent Christmas with my family, so it was really strange. I was basically all by myself for the holiday, except for the cats. Dad did call me on Christmas Eve when everyone was there, and I got to talk to everyone, so that was pretty awesome. Hopefully, people will be willing to change our celebration to Christmas Day next year and I can go (since it's on a Friday).

On Christmas Day, wicce came over and we attempted a LotR Extended Edition marathon, with a break to have dinner at the Iron Skillet (surprisingly excellent buffet). I say "attempted" because by the time The Two Towers was over, it was already after 9pm, and I had to work the next day at 8am, so we decided to postpone RotK until Saturday. But we did watch all three in a very short amount of time! I forgot how much I love those movies. It was also the first time I'd ever seen the RotK Extended Edition, so that was nice. All in all, not a bad way to spend Christmas Day, since we usually do a movie or something anyway.

I feel like I should have made this post yesterday, lol. I guess last night when I had Semagic open, my mind was just too blank to think of any of this. I'm planning on making a post about my music listening habits of 2008 according to my iTunes (or the portion of 2008 after I reformatted my HD and managed to put things back into iTunes anyway), but that will have to wait until later tonight, since I need to upload stuff first.

I mentioned in my previous post that I'm not going to make any resolutions for this year, since I never keep them, but I have decided to set a few goals for myself. I have a plan to get my stuff organized, so I'm going to start on that soon. I hope it works out, since I will be glad to not have piles and piles of laundry lying around all the time. As for computer-related goals, I guess I'll make a list (what, I like crossing things out!):

  • Post to LJ every other day. I've had this LJ since the end of 2002, and I don't think I've even made 500 posts. Pretty pathetic. I'd try to make myself post every day, but as you all saw in November, I don't really have anything to say every day. So every other day it is!
  • Organize my freaking iTunes. I hate untagged, or improperly tagged mp3s, so I'm trying slowly but surely to get everything organized. Since I have over 6000 songs in there right now, and only a third of it is tagged right, this is going to take all year.
  • Organize my delicious tags! This is also going to take forever.

I guess I should probably get dressed now, huh? This lounging around in my pajamas all day during the middle of the week thing is pretty sweet, though. This is my last day off until god knows when, so I'm trying to make the most of it. Hope you all are enjoying your day as well!

happy new year, goals, holidays, family, resolutions, movies, life
