No news is good news?

Well, after some prodding by dad, he finally sent me a FB message. He's doing good, made some friends. I have no idea how things are going really, if he's making to classes or not, showering or not, or if he'll do any laundry this weekend. Or if he's heard anything of done anything about his room and getting it changed. I'm sure he has done somethign, just not sure if he's done what needs to be done. I have not heard if he got the care package I signed him up for. I did say he should check his mail. Of course since we didn't have the right address, I have no idea if he'll even get any of the packages. sigh.

He did say he was going into town tonight with friends. That's good I hope. If he finds a good group of kids (young adults) to hang out with I'll be happy.

We are going to NH to see my mom this weekend, so if the TSA or any hackers would like to come by and feed my cats, that would be great.

5 or 6 episodes into Walking Dead season 4. AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

The summer heat that we didn't get seems determinded to give it one last shot. Supposedly it's going to be back to the 70's next week. That will be wonderful. I have weeds to cut at the cemetery, but no grass. I've been trying to water the trees too, but I need to do more. It's so dry that there are a number of mature trees around that are turning brown and dropping leaves. We seem to be in a gap in the rainfall this year, missing many of hte rainstorms that others in the area have gotten. We are very very dry here and the ponds are super low.

I have it in mind to write an entrie on the current world politics, but not today.

At work we've been taking apart a foundation to a government marker. I noticed a while ago due to erosion that there was a slate stone that looked like an old slate headstone or something sticking out of the foundation. Well, since we aren't that busy, I figured we'd take a look and get it out of there. That turned out to be a bigger project than I expected. The foundation was a god 2 feet deep at least, and it was indeed filled with old slate and marble pieces. We found almost the entire headstone of two children from 1818, and two or three footstones, and parts of a marble headstone with one name we can determine, but lots of other misc. pices. And man is 60 year old cement tough! Today we were loaned an electric drill/jackhammer that was really handy. Took the remaining block appart in far less time. The slate we can get to seperate, but the marble adheres to the cemement far too much, and most of it isn't really salvageable. Though if we can put it together, we will.
It really pisses me off that they put the stone pieces into a foundation. It's one thing to put in parts that have no name on them, or that are shattered beyond hope, but to put a headstone in? One that was only broken in 2 places? It should have been buried at the gravesite if it was not fixable, not put in a foundation. Jerks. We will be putting that together and putting it in concrete or something so it's a headstone again.
