So the ground finally is starting to firm up a bit, overnight at least. There is so much moisture in the ground that if it does get really cold, and 'if' seems to be a necessary word to add, I imagine the frost will go very deep. The pit where I dump leaves and brush was a pond the other day from the rain. It seems every mid week we get a good soaking rain. And otherwise the weather is just dandy. Although I think that if this were summer, and we were running 10 to 20 degrees above normal, I'd be very very unhappy.
At work it's leaves leaves leaves. Which is fine. I want to get as much done as I can while the weather is still good. The free labor came by two days last week and got a good section done. And again, there just are NOT the amount of leaves we normally have. If the weather hold and we don't have a buttload of funerals come in, we may actually get the bulk of the leaves picked up this fall, if not all of them. That would be a first I think. Of course Cuz is hoping to keep working as long as possible, because hey, it's money.
My brother pulled an old photos out of the bookcase today. I think we actually had found it before in the attic when we were looking around after my father died. Its an old picture from 1907 of my grandfather and his brother and sister when they were little kids. The frame was pretty gross, kind of moldy in a way, so I took the picture out. The 'mat' for the photo is a hand embroidered background, flowers on silk I assume. It too is not in the best shape, and sadly it's not signed in any way so I'll never know who made it. But it is dear. I wonder if I can get someone to restore it so at least it won't deteriorate any more.
Glad to hear Sushi finally got her drugs. Yeah... expect me to yell when you put your health in that kind of jeopardy. UG.
I just have to say (I haven't posted much political lately) that the Romney $10,000. blow up is just such crap. First off, I don't like the guy, but if you don't already know he's made of money, you should be voting. Second, he was trying to prove a point, not make any money. He was trying to convey how very sure he was that he was correct. No one has ever heard people do that? Come on. "I'll bet you a million dollars my first car was a Ford!" It's kind of a silly thing, but it shows you have total faith in what you are saying. Of course no one is saying anything about Mormons and betting, which I think is the REAL issue. lol
I broke down and bought three boxes of LED icicle lights. I have a string of colored lights, but I missed the icicles. Of course, they don't' really fall right so really all the look like is a bunch of bluish white lights with the colored lights mixed in, but in any event it's festive.
And kittens, lets' not forget the kittens. Muffin was great up until yesterday when she puked twice and had diarrhea. She seems better today. At least when she puked, she did it in the kitchen on the cheap rug. I can deal with confined messes. She was so funny trying to 'cover' it by scratching, like they do with their food. No honey, I can still see it. I have a Thursday vet appt for her first shots.
She is such a fantastic kitten personality wise. I assume it's because she has been hand reared basically, but she is just so lovey and I can pick her up any time, stick my face in hers and kiss her, put her on her back in my arms and rub her tummy. Spooky is sweet and funny and lovable, but he is still wild at heart in a way. You go to pet him and he melts away from you, unless HE wants to be petted. And it's not like we've ever hit him or hurt him or anything like that. He's just a bit more wild. But we still love him. And the two of them get along so well, with the exception of a few times when they get a bit out of control playing. Couldn't have asked for a better set of kitties.
