The funeral today went very well. The weather was dreary and raw, but not rainy or muddy, though there was some water in the hole. I think the ground is still very much saturated form last months monsoons, and in some areas it's still quite wet.
The dump truck has a new leak. There is antifreeze coming from the back of the engine, but I'm not sure where exactly. I'm hoping it's not one of the freeze plugs that he said looked fine. Or one of the replacement ones, which I guess would be better because I know he can reach those if he needs to. It's one goddam thing after another.
Glad I'm not trying to leave Europe these days. I think I'd be looking into a boat right about now.
Did I mention the inch worms are out? Tiny still but already eating up a storm. Not sure what this cold spell will do to them other than maybe slow them down a pinch. Short of a freeze, I don't think anything would actually kill them.
We have another funeral for next week already.
I did get the transmission in the mower yesterday. I don't yet know if it works, I want to take it outside to try it out, but didn't have the time or weather for that Friday. No clue what it's going to do. I felt a.. how to put it.. stiff spot on it when I turned the pulley. My brother says it may be a spot of weld catching and it should wear off. But if it pulls like that it may end up burning the belt. One way or another though, I will find out if the damn thing is going to run. If it doesn't, then it's just going to be for parts anyway, so burning out the belt won't even matter. That belt wont fit the other mower anyway. I'm hoping I got everything back to where it belongs. I hate that it took this long to get done. When you have something fresh in your mind, it's a lot easier to do than when it's 3 months later.
Biv wanted her pay for today's funeral on Monday. She needs the money (as always). Then I get a text this evening asking for it tonight. You've got to be kidding me. I turned off my phone.
My mother found me a lamp at a yard sale today that I was looking for for Himself's room. She's awesome.
I've been rather tired lately. I came home Friday and we did the papers then I crashed on the couch. I would have liked to have gone to bed and take a nap, but Himself was under orders not to use computer or games because he was 'too sick' to go to school, so I felt like I couldn't retire to the bedroom without finding him on the computer when I came out. Sucks to be a mom sometimes. I felt like it was one of those times when he was a baby and I was exhausted, but you cant just go to bed, you have to be there to watch them. Or in this case, just make sure they suffer their punishment. lol
But I will say, that the kid did just get his grades and he made the honor roll this time. He didn't last time. But he made a good effort to get things up there, and he did a great job. So he can continue to rot his brain on the computer I guess, as long as he keeps it up. If the weather would get better I'd do some more forced marches. I'm hoping next week we can get out more. Not that I have the energy to, but he needs to get moving.
