Rain, blessed rain

No, I'm not really thrilled that we are getting a cold wet (maybe snowy)rain tomorrow and Sat, and maybe Sunday, but I am thrilled that Biv won't be coming in tomorrow because of it. I've had it up the 'here' with her. This police thing is going to be the death of her or me. Because the detectives are here, there and everywhere, she is beside herself with curiosity and every car is a police car, every jogger is a cop. I've just frigging had it. After a long day of working, I'm bringing in the backhoe and she's running up to me pointing at a house down the road. I stupidly bother to check it out. No, it's just a frigging van. Not cops, not the SWAT team, nothing. Enough already! I'll read about it in the paper. I have work to do.

And work we did do. Two graves dug, one body in the hole, one grave filled. Yay.

The vault man came by today and decided it would be easiest to put the coffin in the vault and then put the whole thing in at once. We've done it before in some cases, when no family was there. So later in the day, after our digs and his funeral, we get everything ready and we wait for the funeral director, who was supposed to bring help. He didn't. Luckily she was a light woman in a light casket. We put kitty cornered her onto the vault, then lowered her in with straps. Then the vault guy put the cover on, and we walked down to the grave to wait for him. And wait.. and wait. Then I heard the chain fall. Now, he has an electric winch on the back his truck, which he had mentioned he wasn't' sure if it could pull up the weight of the vault bottom, casket and vault cover all in one. Apparently it ran out of juice and he had to take the cover back off with the chain fall, and then pick them up separately. But once that was done, he brought it in to the grave, backed right up to it, and in it went.

While we were waiting for the funeral director to show up, he was telling me that he had a funeral at another cemetery today, and the cemetery dug the wrong grave. Not just the wrong grave in the lot, but in a totally wrong section of the cemetery. Unbelievable. But apparently fairly common in this cemetery. And we were talking about winter burials, and how another cemetery had 20 bodies to bury this spring, because the were not going to even start burying until mid April, even though the ground has been thawed out since the beginning of March. There is just no reason for that. Even the funeral director said he had a burial going to NH, and they normally wouldn't be putting it in but for the mild spring we've had. Yeah, I understand if you cant dig, but not when you WONT dig. I'd be bullshit if I owned lots there.
So no matter what I do wrong, I guess I still look like a professional compared to the idiocy going on around me.

Yesterday we were picking up leaves and a car stopped nearby. A woman in what I can only describe as a 'sundress' got out of the car. She was bare foot, had some kind of very fringy thing on over the dress, and when she got closer I could see she had a tribal like tattoo around her neck and half a dozen earrings in her ear. I's have to guess she was a biker chick. She asked if we had any lots, and I told her no, because we dont. I advised her what local cemetery she could get lots at, but she wasn't interested. She said she was from Dorchester. And that really was all the explanation I needed. On her way out, she apparently stole a rose off a grave, although I didn't see it, Biv said she did. Given where she came from, I wouldn't have put it past her.

I had quite a lot of vivid dreams this morning, but the two things that stuck with me was that poodle like white bunnies with multiple batches of babies in sizes from fetal maggots to fluffy babies. Weird. Also that Sushi and I were being chased by coyotes, and because I knew she couldn't run fast enough to get away, I turned to confront them. So I have this image of a snarling dog charging me and then pulling up as I charged it. I don't know how the confrontation ended though. But you owe me Sushi. lol

I heard the the planes over Europe were grounded because of the volcano in Iceland, but I didn't realize why exactly. I assumed it was just visibility, but then I heard that the ash could actually destroy the engines on the plane. Wow, not something to mess with.

Sara Palin was here in Boston yesterday with the Tea Party. I cant stand her voice. I cant stand her cadence. Her voice is like Palosie's face. Each makes me want to change the channel.

My brother put the transmission back together, so tomorrow, seeing its going to rain and I don't have my nightmare there, I will try to get some of it back together. If nothing else comes in.
