When doves cry.

For the second time this season, Biv has told me that the sound we are hearing is an owl hooting. In fact, it is a dove cooing. I told her that it was  dove the first time, but she insisted it was an owl, she knew because there had been one outside her house.  When she said it again today, I ignored her. Whatever. There is only so much you can do.  When the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw.

I arrived at the cemetery this morning and did my usual drive around. When I saw a granite cross on the ground, I stopped.  We apparently have some pranksters around. Beside this stone being over, there were a few other things out of place, and some flags burnt, and some flowers ripped up. Over the Easter weekend we had one basket of flowers taken from a grave, and Monday I founds some remains of a burnt flag. Now this. So I called the police and they came by and took notes. Woopie. Hopefully they will increase patrols. Some kids have it in their head this is a good place to hang out and do silly things. Arranging the flags in patterns, knocking things over. Burning stuff. Yeah, enough. Get the hell out.

I put the stone back up myself. Thankfully it was still resting on the base. I was able to lift it enough to get a block under it (yeah, try lifting and shoving with your foot at the same time, ug) and three blocks high was enough to give me the height to boost it upright. And no, I did not blow out my back. I did not however, attempt to pick up the marble stone. Marble is a lot heavier than granite. I'll have to get the dolly for that and wheel it back into place.

We had a cremation today, and their were only two family members that came to the interment. They brought the family Bible with them. You should have seen this puppy. It was, I kid you not, at least 5 inches thick, with a beautiful leather cover, about the size of a phone book. It looked really cool. I bet you money it had the entire family genealogy in it too.

The truck, which has been running fine since it got the new clutch, started stalling today. For no reason. Just running and bang, not running. Started, gave it gas and it would die again. Started again, revved it, seemed fine. Then it did it again a little while later. I took the gas cap off thinking maybe it was vapor locking, but it didn't sound like it. I'm going to have to mention it to my brother. It seems to me this happened last year, but I don't recall doing anything about it, I think it may have just stopped on its own. I don't like when things like this happen. Not at all. You don't want to be driving that thing with a load of dirt and just lose power. Always something.
