We went to see Wolverine this weekend and quite enjoyed it. I've never followed the X-Men comics but I know enough about the story to follow it and whatever I don't know my husband and son are only too happy to educate me about.
The weekend turned out to be very nice, compared to what was expected. Now it seems the rain is finally coming in. I'm not sure what the week has in store, hopefully we can get work done. Still some leaves to get up, but the mowing needs to be done, it's all growing now. Have to get the boy to the doctor's tomorrow for the annual, so that cuts into the day. Hopefully no funerals this week.
I caught a segment on WUMB this morning about Pete Seger turning 90. I didn't realize he wrote "We Shall Overcome", I just thought it was an old hymnal. He really was a very talented and principled writer.
We also watched Milk last night. I really enjoyed the movie. Very well paced and interesting. How ironic that the gay rights movement was so beaten down in so many states back then, and how far it's come, and the comparison to the gay marriage movement. In 30 years, will we all be looking back at how silly the anti-gay marriage movement looks, like it seems the anti gay movement looks from here? People being able to be fired for being gay, or for sticking up for people who are gay? Doesn't seem possible does it? But that was what California wanted to do, if the movie is accurate. Fire gay teachers, they corrupt the youth. Fire people who stand up for gay teachers.. not sure why they thought that was constitutional. Good performances all around in the movie.
There is a house that just went on the market around the corner from us. It's selling price is $30,000. less than what they paid for it in '05 according to Zillow. And what they are asking for it is about $40,000 more than what Zillow estimates it to be worth. Interesting. In '99 the house was valued at $155, and in '06 is was valued at $325. Now it's back to about $225. They want $265,000. I bet if they sell it, they get $235,000. I'll let you know.
After about 5 years of buying and eating asagio cheese bagels, Ryther finally tells me he likes the bottoms better. Funny thing is I like the tops better. Well, isn't that a funny thing. Now I get two tops and he gets two bottoms. No, there is nothing to read into that. Nothing at all. Just pass the cream cheese.
