I just bought my
BurningMan 2009 ticket. :)
Last weekend we moved Sa_briel to Eureka to start her stint at HSU. I made her a pretty cool lofted bed frame to maximize her cubby of a room. It's going okay.
Before the holidays, I agreed to handle sound and projection for the next Riverfront Playhouse show, "Same time, next year".
I've been going to rehearsal more nights than not. To be honest, I'm kind of wishing I hadn't said yes because I'm just not feeling challenged, and I like a challenge that makes use of my skills and abilities. All the audio and video clips have been prepared by someone else so I have had no creative input at all - all I do is push the play and pause/stop buttons at the appropriate time, and there are long pauses between my cues. It's a little more fun when the lights person is gone because then I get to do it all - lights, audio and video. At least then I'm mostly busy. To top it off, Shasta College has auditions for their Spring production this coming week, but I can't in good conscience ditch this show in favor of that one, even though I really would like one last show out there before I presumably leave the area later this year.
Anyhow, "Same time, next year" is a really nice little show, so if you're inclined to see plays, check it out. We open next Saturday and run for about a month. Graphics Emporium has the tickets.
I just recently bought my first brand new couches from McMahhans since their closing.
I'll post pictures some time, I suppose. I'm happy with them but less happy with the cat - she has been scratching at the corner of one of them! I'm going to get pet protectors so she doesn't mess them up and for now I have blankets draped over the corners to discourage undesirable use. (she has a scratching pad and post, I don't know why she prefers the couch)
I also finally finished the siding on my computer case! It's pretty wicked.
Nice big flame pattern (think Stussy) with a black case and silver and red highlights. I still have to finish painting the rest of the case, then I'll post pictures. Unfortunately, my computer has been unstable recently. I thought it was the refurbished audio card, but I removed it and the computer still froze. I think it was doing it before I got the new memory, but I'm going to swap in the old memory and see if I still get freezes. From there, it could be the new video card but I don't really think so, which may mean that the mainboard and/or processor is finally giving up after a few years of running to damn hot (whenever I play a game, I'm running 180+ degrees Fahrenheit). So after putting out a couple hundred dollars getting this one to the best it can be, I may just have to give in and get an all new system after all. We'll see.
That's about it for now. Snowboarding action has occurred a couple times, but with the warm weather, it won't be happening again for a while (until we get more snow, basically). I'm going to be doing some photography shoots soon. I'm speaking with a new model tomorrow and will probably be checking in with a couple others that were interested previously, plus ran into one of my previous shoot models and she said she definitely wants to work with me again, too. So cool!
