So the new house is coming together slowly but surely. We've been dealing with some issues regarding previous tenants, their dogs, and the messes they made in the back bedroom, however we made some headway with the rental agency and tomorrow will be a final cleaning by a carpet company that I'm bringing out to do a better job than the previous cleanings.
I also just ordered cable internet today which will be installed next week. Since both Sa_briel and I have cell phones, there's no need to pay $25 a month for a phone we don't use, and to get DSL by it's self costs the same as getting it with a phone (WTF ATT?), so I'm switching to cable for the first time in my life. Technology has come a long way, it'll probably be a good thing. Now, the cable company charge a little extra if you don't actually have cable television, too, but it's only an extra $5 instead of $25. The introductory rate (for six months) is quite nice, too. I'll have to see if I can finangle something at the end of those six months.
The yard needs a lot of work, but it is already starting to look better (the front yard, that is, since that is what has been worked on). This weekend will be the first big push to get things moved over to the new place. Couches, books and shelves, kitchen bits, so forth.
Weeee!
p.s. Charter almost lost me when the service rep I was working with started in saying there would be a $50 install fee when I expressly ordered self-service install. Since I don't have cable yet, they wanted to charge to send someone out to enable the line. However, when I said, "Fine, cancel" he quickly said well, they would wave the fee if I setup automatic payment of my bill. "Fine, I was going to anway," I said. Dorks.
