I re-felted the garden shed yesterday. It was a very cheap shed, and while the wood itself was okay, the roofing felt was pretty pathetic and got torn by the weather and wind. So I stripped off the old stuff and replaced it with a decent quality felt, and used some proper adhesive to help stop the wind from getting under it. I got a splinter in ( Read more... )

It's a gorgeously sunny day today. So gorgeous that I couldn't resist going into the garden. Unfortunately, I then realised how desperately I needed to mow the lawns. They haven't been done since last year.

There's a huge fat bumble bee in the garden.
Daniel chased it, saying, "Come back bee! Come back bee!"
Then it turned round and chased him back to his climbing frame. :)

Now he's just yelling, "Bee! Bee!" from a distance.

My neighbour got her hedge cut yesterday and the guy offered to cut mine (and take away the bits) for .... £70 (!!!!).
It's 15 feet long and about 5 foot high, a cherry laurelI've got a feeling he'd have dropped his price a lot if I'd haggled, but I was a bit blown away so we never got the haggling stage ( Read more... )
