My neighbour got her hedge cut yesterday and the guy offered to cut mine (and take away the bits) for .... £70 (!!!!).
It's 15 feet long and about 5 foot high, a
cherry laurel.
I've got a feeling he'd have dropped his price a lot if I'd haggled, but I was a bit blown away so we never got the haggling stage.
He made a very good job of her hedge - it's now a well defined box shape with right angles and everything.
I cut mine today in about 20 minutes. It doesn't look as nice, but it doesn't look £70 worse. And in a month I bet I'll not notice the difference.
While I was cutting it I noticed a strong almond smell. Apparently, the leaves contain cyanide. :o
