A bit annoying: not much of what I'd studied came up in the exam, and since you had to pick two out of three questions, the bits that I had studied were invariably linked to stuff I had no clue about. Not long after I got back from Dundee, I went out with some friends to see A Scanner Darkly, Richard Linklater's adaptation of the Philip K. Dick novel. Wasn't sure what to expect - all the films I'd seen based on his work had basically taken a one-line plot summary and used it as the basis for an action movie. Well, I've worn the Boots of Hell for two days running now, and walked reasonably far in them, and my feet are just fine. Just watched Scream of the Shalka, a BBC-produced Dr Who serial with Richard E Grant as the Ninth Doctor (before Christopher Eccleston became the canon ninth doctor in the new TV series.) Tis very cool, and gave me several belly laughs (probably a bad idea at 1am) - and it's made me want to actually watch all the recent Dr Who, since I missed all ( Read more... )

Odd. I bought Metropolis, the black-and-white Fritz Lang movie, a while back because the DVD was on sale. It's ... alright, but the music kinda put me off - frilly orchestral stuff. The film has some very industrial dystopian sequences that really deserved some heavy power orchestral music, and the music on the DVD just didn't do them any justice. ( Read more... )

Saw it. Jaw dropped. During Big Fight, kept thinking "+2 stunt, +3 stunt...". Want soundtrack. Want that motorbike. This is how Exalted should play. Nuff said.
